if america ran out of gas and the world got mad at us for using it up and decided to attack is there any way?

that we could get invaded and all of the countries of the world suceed in taking us over if they only nuked us a few times and then just litered the place with normal cluster bombs, keeping in mind that this is an (What If, scenario)

yeah i know we arn the only ones using gas but the world is blaming us now,

what was the point in that, i could come up with allot of what if scenarios and allot of people like you could say that--------what i just said doesnt make much sence, but at leat that answer was kind of funny

The idea that we would "run out of gas" is sheer silliness. If the Germans could make synthetic gas in the 1940s with the technology of that time, we can do a damm sight better. The question is really at what price of gas will it become cost-effective to implement alternative sources or change the way we do things. Secondly, "all the countries" don't have the organization to take us over, and no administration would dare do nothing if we were under nuclear attack.

The only way the US would run out of gas is if the world did because we have the money to pay for it...

... and in that case we'd win anyway because, unlike most other nations, we have nuclear powered warships and a surplus in the biological products to produce biodiesel and methanol...

...we probably wouldn't even need to re-engine the tanks!

Aircraft might be a little harder because splitting water to get hydrogen and the consumption rates for rocket-powered aircraft are outrageous, but it's probably do-able.

Oh, and our submarines carrying our nukes are nuclear plus the missiles are solid fueled or rocket fueled and stored, so any incoming nukes would likely be greeted by outgoing nukes.

Additionally, most/many countries would have to make do with a seriously impeded economy whether or not they through a war...

I wouldn't necessarily say that because for the next 50 years we have enough gas to power us through that way. We also have gas stored in reserves and countries like Saudi Arabia who constantly send tankers ships loaded with gas to our country. If we put it in the scenario that we don't have any oil then what would happen is we would of already have alternatives to oil made which would still power us the same amount as gas would. Second you only state America. What about the Middle East and a possibility of China and India. Won't they be sending us gas. No countries would ever combine together and attack us in any scenario no matter what. It would be almost impossible to destroy America and if you do destroy America, its like you just destroyed the whole world. All assets and political power and finances are all hubbed in the United States for most part. If the U.S. was gone, economically, financially, technologically, none of us would ever be able to survive.

If the world (not America) ever runs out of gas it will be America that comes up with an alternate power source. The rest of the world is much too busy cursing the evil Yankees to invest any time trying to solve the problem.

We have more oil in emergency war storage than the rest of the world uses in a year, and there is plus side of not drilling, in the gulf or anywhere else in or near America over the past 25 years-- we have more untapped oil in and within 100 miles of N.America than there is in all the rest of the world combined. ..........okay, so everyone of our military personal was over run and constant air superiority keeps us pinned down, the answer is simple. take back the air and our forces will just regroup. we have so many anti air weaponry it is just ridiculous. and as for the nuke if more than four go off anywhere then yeah the atmosphere is pretty much screwed. and keep in mind Mexico is invading us, Canada........ha! no offense but come on, Canada. china eh, maybe once their infantry comes over but we could crush their military with moments with air strikes seeing how we have air superiority over china right now.
