Adobe Acrobat 7.09 and ABBYY Fine Reader?

I have these programs on my computer I was wondering if I need the Abbyy one it came with the computer
I never use the ABBYY one (at least i don't think i do) I never see it being used what is it for ? Can anyone help?

adobe acrobat is to read pdf files.

and abbyy fine reader is used to convert a image or a pdf file to editable work or excel format.
