More information that may answer my own question..
------
""Each participant's activities will be tabulated on the "Greenest City Map" with all the other participants from their city to show how "green" their city is. The city with the highest "green" ranking, as determined by Yahoo!, will be awarded a fleet of hybrid taxis (up to 10). Should the chosen city be unable or unwilling to accept the taxis, the mayor of the chosen city may select an eco-friendly 501c3 organization to receive a $250,000 donation from Yahoo! to support eco-friendly programs in the city's region.""

I don't even consider my town a city it is so small..lol. But anyways, the only Taxi services my town offers, is a privately owned company. I say company, but it is just two guys with cars driving people around. I bet they would love hybrids though with the price of gas as it is.
My question would be though, since my town is so small, even if we did get enough points or whatever, would yahoo really give us this "fleet" of hybrid taxis.? My town only has like 10,000 residents and is a college town so that number fluctuates all the time.

Since my city doesn't have its own taxi service, I think it is a great idea to start a hybrid taxi service. Drivers could lease them from the city then.

precisely like the flicks, yet do not yell or something. merely elevating your hand/arm will do it. If the little sign in appropriate of the cab is lit up, that is loose. Stand close to a nook the place they are going to be waiting to work out you and pull over. do not attempt to hail one if it will be complicated for them to get to you, if that is against site visitors flow. in case you're worried approximately it, stand close to somebody else which you spot hailing a cab - you may get the subsequent one (it is the style you already know which you're in a solid cab spot) Cabs are considerable in vacationer areas and with the aid of the practice stations (Penn Station and Grand necessary). lodges will hail one for you if mandatory, and in case you're in the boroughs (Queens/Bronx/Brooklyn) you will ought to call a cab provider, cabs are basically hailed on the city (ny) do not attempt to get the motive force to interrupt a brilliant bill, carry $5, $10 and $20s to make your lifestyles much less complicated. make particular you tip your motive force on appropriate of the fare (some funds is classic) and don't be afraid to apply the subway, that is particularly uncomplicated to navigate.

Shouldn't it be buses which everyone can use everyday than private taxi's that cost a small fortune and can only be used by one person/s at a time?

Hmm. I'm not sure. it would make more sense to have hybrid buses. but taxi's (especially in major cities) do have a large impact on pollution. i wish my city would win. :D
