After the trial, Fuhrman retired from the LAPD and moved to Sandpoint, Idaho and wrote a book about the Simpson case, called Murder in Brentwood. For his next book, Murder in Greenwich, he investigated the then-unsolved 1975 murder of Martha Moxley and presented his theory that the murderer was Michael Skakel, nephew of Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Senator Robert Kennedy. Skakel was convicted for the murder in June 2002. The book was made into a TV movie in 2002, starring Christopher Meloni (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Oz) as Fuhrman.

In May 1998, Mark Fuhrman was given a polygraph test on the Fox Network show Lie Detector. The test's administrator claimed the results indicated that Fuhrman did not plant the bloody glove and that he was not aware of the bloody glove before entering Simpson's property.

More recently, Fuhrman has written books on the controversial subjects of capital punishment and the medical treatment and death of Terri Schiavo.

Most recently, he has written a book on the John F. Kennedy assassination. In it he advances a theory debunking the Single Bullet Theory while still maintaining that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. He claims that the Warren Commission was forced to adopt the Single Bullet Theory for political reasons. However, he says that a dent in the presidential limousine used that day in the chrome above the windshield vindicates the story told by John Connally that a first shot at President John Kennedy did not hit him.

Fuhrman is a frequent guest of conservative commentator Sean Hannity and a contributor for FOX News. He is also the host of the popular Spokane, WA radio show "The Mark Fuhrman Show" on AM radio station 1510 KGA between the hours of 8am-11am Pacific. The show covers local and national topics and includes many guest callers and listeners.

In response to the proposed book If I Did It written by O.J. Simpson to be published by ReganBooks (an imprint of HarperCollins), Fuhrman stated that he would drop HarperCollins as publisher of his own books in the future. However, Simpson's book has since been cancelled

Shalom! It is my understanding Detective Fuhrman is planning on leaving public life in retirement and with his best friend, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's very reclusive nephew, His Royal Highness David William Alexander Franz Joseph, The Arch Duke, Grand Duke and Duke and that they would spend the rest of their lives traveling around the world together. Her Majesty's nephew is Princess Margaret's son from her first marriage in 1956. She married His Royal Highness. The Arch Duke of Austria and Bohemia, Grand Duke of all The Russias and Duke of Great Britain. His Royal Family survived the Holocasut in Europe and Russia as did numerous other Royal Habsburgs and Romanovs in Great Britain, Canada and The United States..Detective Fuhrman and His Royal Highness served in Viet Nam together and upon returning His Royal Highness, The then Sargent Furhman, and Very Special Agents in Federal Law enforcement and and His Majesty King Faisel II of Arabia founded The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. His Royal Highness then established the same organizations in Scandanavia, France and several other Nations.and united several countries that sighned agreements with Interpole between 1973 and 1977.. Just a side a note, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's nephew, Princess Margaret's son was kidnapped in 1964 and was rescued in 1967. The man currently claiming to be Princess Margarets son is just another posier as there have been dozens of men showing up claimng to be Princess Margaret's son and they all are rebuked as gold diggers as the real Prince lives a very reclusive life. What a happy ending for a change two best friends who survive Viet Nam and served forty plus years in Law Enforcement working for the US National Center for Missing and exploited Children have their dreams come true and travel the world, which of course His Royal Highness did in the 1970's with Britiah Secret Service agents following him around> I wish them both a long and happy retirement as best friends, Detective Fuhrman and David Vanderbilt Habsburg as he is known to his intimate friends deserve it. Shalom!.
