After I dated my bf in the past for 7mths and got back together after a year and half, he never said I love you. He did after we broke up in the past, but since we got back together recently he does not put into words his feelings for me. Has anyone else experienced this? Why do you think this is?

He also says to me that he sees his self marrying me in the future. Then says, he just need to get things together first. He says that quite often, but not I love u.

telling someone you love them is serious, at least if you mean it. (it gets said waaay too much, way too often and so casually that it has almost lost all meaning)

Loving someone is the most personal commitment you can make. And for some people, opening themselves up enough to trust someone with that love takes a bit of courage. It can make one feel vulnerable, revealing more of themselves than they would ever feel comfortable revealing.

And if that relationship sours, the memory of exposing one's feelings to someone who they now perceive as rejecting them can be just as painful as the rejection itself..

They've revealed something very personal, exposed their feelings, made themselves feel vulnerable, and then it went bad.

It isn't hard to understand why someone would be reluctant to make themselves vulnerable again. Give it time.

"I love you" should never be something easy to say. It's an emotion too many people take for granted, and tun it into some kind of fluffy cotton-candy-like meaning. I have always struggled with the words, even as a kid. It's only been in recent years I've been able to say the words freely to family, let alone the man in my life. I am now seeing someone new. I don't know if it will ever progress into love. I do know that if it does, I will hold on to the words until I'm sure I mean them.

Sorry to say it, but maybe he isn't sure if he does love you. And if he does for sure, maybe he's afraid that you won't feel the same way back?
