the Jews with 39, the Protestants with 66,and the Catholics with 73?

Why did ancient Christians have even more books in their Bibles?

Very good point.

Because Canonization of the Bible is a false doctrine... and many people have been led away from the truth by the false teachings of man.

God never said there could be no other scripture than the 66 books in the Bible...in fact it says all scripture is profitable 2 Tim 3:16-17... but most Christians hang on to this false doctrine with much enthusiasm.

Jews don't believe Jesus is the Messiah, so to them much of the Bible isn't true.

Samaritans only had torah the first 5 books of the bible.

The Jewish people do not recognise the new testiment so they only have what we call the old testiment

Catholics include some books not in the normal bible that I've never heard quoted or used except for outside the catholic church. For instance the Jews do not recognise the Maccabees as scripture but celebrate hannakah which is contained in the book of maccabees. The Catholics I don't think even read it.

The Christians have arrived at the 66 books they have by comparing the copies they have against the torah and only keeping those that fall within the standards of the torah.

The ancient christians did not have bibles since bibles are a fairly recent invention. Invention of the printing press and all that. However the gnostic gospels (scrolls some churches owned) do not agree with the torah so they weren't included in canonization.

The Samaritans ideologically broke away from the Israelites around the early part of the Davdic dynasty.

As such they would not accept any books that had to do with it Such as Samuel and on wards.

The Jews started to canonize their Bible around 150-BCE and finished around the second temple period.

Early Christians Canonized their texts around 300 CE and the Protestants broke away and rejected several books that were not in line with their ideology or were suspect to them for some other reason.

If you look Eastern and Oriental Churches have even more books than Catholics.
