I would feel crushed. That was a very bad thing for her to do.

I would be sad and upset. But from an outsider's point of view, I think you should talk with your mom and see if she is feeling ok or if she is upset about something. Mowing the lawn (which is usually done in the daytime) is a strange excuse not to come to a dinner in the evening. Don't let this go. Sit quietly and alone with your mom and tell her you are worried about her. Don't put her in a corner without a way out and don't point a finger at her - figuratively and literally - always say "I" not "you". Hope this works out before it festers and ruins your relationship.

Well guess What My mother did not spend mothers day with me and I am the baby girl, she did spend it with my older sister they went to church and out to lunch and dinner and did not even call me or even invite me to dinner you know You are not by your self I love my mother but I have to live my life and she will have to live her life and if her life is a lot harder than mine than she did not do her job as her A mother I Hope You Had A Very Wonderful Mothers Day besides getting upset over your mom she will get it all back because God do not ugly and that was just plain UGLY. But believe you will make it and that is not going to be the first disappointment look forward to more and then something drastic will happen in her life and she will not be able to fix it.
So keep you head up you are and Adult now so Live for you and Yours.

I guess all mothers want to spend mothers day doing what they like to do. I am sure she did not do this to hurt your feelings. Does she ever go to dinners with you? She may find peace and solice in mowing her lawn. Maybe she did not want to spend the day getting dresses up. She may have not been feeling well.

You know, sometimes moms just want to have some me-time. Working in the yard might have been her time to be alone. Don't take it personally.

It would probably upset me. Then I'd have to think about what is going on in her life...Maybe she just needed some time for herself. Does she have a lot going on at work? Maybe at home? Don't take it personal, I'm sure it has nothing to do with you. Seems like she needs a friend to talk to

I would plan it for another day. What? You only celebrate your mother one day a year?
In my area, fishing season always starts Mother's Day weekend. It's interesting how the fisherpeople get word to their Moms on that day.
