Your son can certainly be baptized, but you didn't mention whether or not you are Catholic yourself. If so, then there shouldn't be a problem, just speak to a priest about it. If not, since there's an expectation that the baptized child will be raised Catholic, you may be asked to attend RCIA classes and receive the sacraments yourself before your child can be baptized. In any case, at least one of the child's godparents must be a faithful Catholic in full communion with the church.

Yes, you can, but you may have to shop for a priest to do it. Not all priests will baptize an out-of-wedlock baby (bunch of A#$holes). Some won't do it if you are living with a boyfriend. Which of course, doesn't make any sense given their insistence on there being a reason to baptize babies in the first place.
However, you can baptize anybody yourself including your baby according to the Catechism. No Godparent is required.

Yes. I am divorced and my children were baptized. Your status doesn't matter, and they won't judge you. Just call your church's office! All catholic priest will baptize your son. Catholics do baptize, that's why it's called baptism. Shame on the above poster for using that language it's unnecessary and your child is gift, and maybe he is a bastard - adj : an offensive or disagreeable person!

It sure is! If you're catholic anyways. A cousin of mine had her child who was born out of wedlock baptized. If you're not Catholic, you can take classes to become catholic, and then your child can become catholic! It's different at almost every church, so you're best bet would just be to call and ask. Good luck!
Oh, and you're child isn't a bastard. That guy is an idiot. Did you know back in the 1500s you were called a "bastard" if your parents got divorced? I just thought that was strange.

You don't ave to be married to have your child baptized. I am married but not in the church hubby is divorced) and my son was baptized. They have made some new changes though, they now want both god-parents to be Catholic(before only one ad to be).
Your child is a gift from God and He sees it that way, no one would deny a child the right to be blessed and cleansed, because we made one bad decision.
Good look to you and your child, call your priest asap!

You are able to baptize the baby yourself if you are unable to find a priest.
You must use the correct matter (water) and form (name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit)
Any water will do. And with the intention (thinking) of removing Original sin.
Get your finger wet with the water.
Make a sign of the cross with the water on the forehead; all the while saying "In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit" again, with the intent of removal of Original Sin.
This is a conditional baptism and valid.
I'm glad you chose to keep your child, I support you and applaud you in this choice. PLEASE feel free to email me at ANY time if you need assistance, shoulder, friend. We're here for you girlfriend, all the way!!
