Because somewhere deep inside them they understand that He is the only real threat to their beliefs that man is God. If Allah was really the one true God, they would all be against him. But the Christian God, the real God, is real... has been proven real and alive, moving and powerful. Be proud that someone finds Him as a threat... they should.

Read between the lines. They aren't against God... they are against those who claim to be from that God, represent him as a Loving, Merciful deity and then tell them about a fiery hell that God created for those who don't believe. Some of these followers go so far as to try to place laws over everyone according to their religion. If us Pagans started doing that, they would use the same tactics on us... of that I have no doubt.
And, you should read up on this, there are some Atheists who just don't care what anyone believes... then there are some who are just as extreme as any of the Religious Right. There is good and bad in every group... and it's painfully obvious that people will only ever look at the bad within a group and claim the whole group is that way. What a shame.

Not at all. Atheists believe in no gods at all. Not Zeus, not Thor, not Yahweh.
The impression you have may be generated by the frequent comments made by Christians in reference to atheists. You must admit that the preponderance of theists in this particular society are Christians, and therefore would be most inclined to engage in debate with atheists. Very few of Zeus's adherents ask or answer questions in this forum
Are you feeling a bit persecuted? That's to be expected.
Read Eric Hoffer's "The True Believer" for an explanation of this phenomenon.

first off the Bible is a bunch lies,Hell isn't taught in the Old Testament, and was made uo in the New Testament when assimilating cultures under the Roman Empire and still gives perverts and thieves a way to brain wash people into submission. If it doesn't make sense it isn't true.I am Agnostic, knowing that technology is used to control people, however the insane laws enforced on the basis of Christianity that cause so many murders, child molestations, covers for abuse of children is simply horrible. You are taught to read a few verses in a bible and then take a bible study books enterpetation of what you think you just read and go out thinking you are doing God's will by attacking your neighbors or relatives.Simply put "Christians" are mindless raving maniacs being hustled by perverts and thieves...very dangerous stuff just like any other religion promoting attacking your fellow man....

Atheists do not believe in ANY gods. That includes not only your false god, but all the gods that are believed in by various religions around the world. They're just more vocal against Christians because the other religions don't harass and condemn and judge everyone else. They don't come and knock on our doors and bother us at home to preach their beliefs. They don't try to incorporate their religious dogma into our schools and government. They're properly and respectfully discreet in their religious beliefs. They don't brag that their God is the one true god, and insult others beliefs by calling their gods false. Even "Jesus" took exception to that type of behavior. He considered pompous bragging to be an abomination. He himself said that you are supposed to go pray quietly in your room, and not boast. Maybe you think you've found your "calling", but what you've decided your "calling" is is not what Jesus wanted.
But I guess you must not have read your Bible, or you'd know that.

You are misinformed. Atheists are not "against" Christians, they simply do not believe in their god, or any other diety for that matter, be it Buddah, Allah, Zeus, etc. To Atheists, all gods are false and they don't discriminate between different religions. Correct me if I'm wrong but I get the vibe you view Atheists as agressive in their belief. This is also untrue. To be frank, most atheists really don't care one way or another what others believe and don't try to force their own views on them. In fact, I feel safe in saying I've seen many more Christians "against" Atheists than vice versa.

Hmmm. I am an atheist, and I never had to answer a rude question from these "false god" believers.
Maybe you should ask why is it that only "true god" believers behave so badly toward unbelievers?
I am a fan of doing to others what others do to you. But I much prefer not doing to others what I do not want done to me.
So, if, let's say some christian proselytizes to me, and threatens me with hell if I do not believe, what do you figure should be the proper response?

Have you noticed this question gets asked a lot?
I am not "against" the Christian god, or any god. I just don't think any of them exist. See the difference?
And why your religion in particular? In my case, being a citizen of these lovely united states, Christianity is the religion that has the power to shape politics, and to affect my life and the lives of my children. I disagree with any religion having power in government.
"I think I have found my calling!!!!"
What's that? Sh** stirring?

What do you mean by false gods? Idols? Materialism, like money? I think everyone's victim to that. But I also believe that atheists aren't truly against God. They're against the idea of worshiping Him and believing in Him through the same perspective that you have of Him. No, I think that everyone who believes in good and lives their life respectably, believes that good exists and is better than evil or anything bad, believes also in God. They just see Him from a different angle.

Um, maybe because you and others talk like that (negative of us and "false gods" of others), we have not been bothered consistently by anyone else (our Jewish friends are accepting and would rather keep their beliefs private and let us keep the same, can you imagine that?!), and being that Christianity is the "dominating" one in my country, we tend to have more of a kinship with other minority views and to a degree understand each other in regard to that, so no we don't tend to think badly of them.
We generally like yours least because you won't shut your yaps and keep your noses out of other people's beliefs.
Your calling? And that would be what? Sitting your @ss on Yahoo Answers all day?

I think the idea is that atheists, by nature, don't believe in any god. The reason atheists seem particularly opposed to Christians is that there are more Christians here, in this section of this site, and that they have a higher tendency to show opposition to atheists.
