I have enough money to buy a used one but since it snows here in Michigan they think that a mustang would be an impractical car because it won't handle well in the snow.

Depending on your age I'd also consider how much the insurance for a Mustang is going to cost you...if you are a male and under 25 it will cost you a small fortune.

A Mustang with good tires designed for bad weather (ice and snow, rain) will do fine.

They're right about the snow, but the issue ain't that. Perhaps they don't want to put a car in your hands that can go 120mph, which has consequences more serious than a few flakes. Show them that you've had a perfect driving record for the last 2 years with no accidents or tickets of any kind. If you can't, then go for a stable clunker. If you can, they might just trust your judgement.

You are smart, as you answered your own question. You're right, in Michigan a front-wheel drive car would be better. There are some sporty cars that are front-drive wheel, like the 2dr Honda civic coupe, Mazda, and others. Plus your gas mileage will be much better, and you will have more money left for other things.

well i know you think that you want a car that is more hip, but they are your parent's and are looking out for your welfare first!
How do you think they would feel if they allowed you to get the mustang and you got killed in it because it was'nt safe and wasnt trustworthy for the bad weather?
You can get you a car of your liken when you get of age!
