Let's see, you're taking an antidepressant and it gives you headaches and dizziness, which is depressing. I'd stop taking them.

Headaches and dizziness are very common in anti-depressants. Do not stop immediately. Going cold turkey on anti-depressants is never a good idea because the body goes through withdrawls. The dizziness, if mild, tends to go away after the first several weeks. The worst I've had with sertraline (zoloft) is some heartburn, which happens if I don't drink enough fluids with the tablet. You said you are taking it after a meal, but have you tried before a meal? It helps with the digestion of the pill and is easier on the body.

Talk to your doctor as soon as you get a chance, or a nurse or pharmacist. They will know more about your medical history and your doctor may make more suggestions or even lower your dose. Some drugs may be interacting with your zoloft too. Don't panic, just ask at the soonest moment possible.

Some anti-depressants have different effects upon people. You may just need to see which one or combination thereof is good for you.

Good luck!

Stick with it if you can//Antidepressants take up to six weeks to have their full effect and even then dosage may have to be adjusted// Zoloft is an SSRI and this class of drug is activating for some and if this is the case try taking in he morning/ For others they can in rarer cases be mildly sedating so nigh time might be best/ take at same time every day according to instructions// More often than not mild side effects tend to lessen or disappear over time/ it is too early to tell if this is the right choice for you but there are many choices available to doctors today compared to as little as 15 years ago.

That was one of the ones that did not work for me.

These things work!

The problem is that it can take forever to find the one that is right for you.

You will probably get some antidepressant benefits from all of them in varying degrees, but the side effects can be brutal.

I've had..

Sleeping the whole day. ( not good when you are an exec)
Sex ability vanished.

I went thru Zoloft, Effexor, Remeron and some I can't remember.

I'm now on Welbutrin and it is working well.

I don't buy the "hang in there, the side effects will go away" stuff.

If it is so obviously bad for your body, get off it and try something different.

I share your pain.

I hope this helps

Robbie

Side affects can take several weeks or months to go away.

Just wait and discuss it with your doctor. Do not stop taking it and do not adjust your dose without talking with your doctor first. If the headache and dizzy feelings are severe in nature to the point where you cannot tolerate it then don't wait - make an earlier appointment.

Always talk to your Doctor A.S.A.P. about any side effects
or discomforts. They know why you are feeling this way,I take
Lexapro, before I took Pazil.I decided to just stop taking my
Meds after over 10 yrs.I had the worst redrawing symptoms
and of course i just rode it out. When I finally went to Doctor
he found I had all kinds of serious health issues.I could have
died,if I didn't go to get Medical help. You are in the same
situation,Go To The Doctor.Tell them all you are experiencing.
Maybe you need Lab work done too. Good Luck.

It depends on how much it worries you!! I took my Zoloft in the morning. Within 30 minutes I felt like I was on speed and I was in a great mood (I am NOT a morning person!!) After five days, I went completely psycho and attempted suicide (which is a common side effect with Zoloft and most other anti-depressants!!) I almost died!! When my sister found me, I had no heartbeat!! If she had not found me when she did, I would not be here now!!! I was not suicidal before I started Zoloft, so PLEASE be CAREFUL!!!!!! If your side effects are worrying you enough to be asking this question, I would seriously advise you to stop taking it NOW!!! Good luck!!

definitely tell him about it. the dizziness seems to be a common side effect for some anti-depressants. I take Cymbalta and have the dizziness thing sometimes. The doc maybe able to adjust your dosage of suggest something for your headache. Anti-depressants can take awhile to get used to your bodys' chemistry....good luck

Call now - stress urgency - don't drive yourself there! See http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris on antidepressants, page 2. Take a half dose, until the appointment, to avoid possible withdrawal symptoms, which could be even worse than your current ones.

I think the bad side effects last about 10-20 days, but I think they lessen over time. Stopping is entirely up to you. If you understand headache and dizziness are common, you can decide if the side effect is worth it or not.
