I agree. Copy & paste scripture doesn't answer questions.

In any harmonious human relationship the basic set of values have to be the same. Otherwise there is no common ground on which to build the relationship. What you find is that the Christian's set of values begins with the authority of the Bible. If you do not esteem this value, you will find that sooner or later the relationship will come to a halt. It is not the fault of the Christians, mind you, but a simple principle of communication. As an analogy, you have the same in computers where two systems running different OS's are incompatible.
Perhaps with an open mind you should first investigate why Christians take this Book so seriously. And if there are valid reasons, you too may be able to appreciate it. Who knows, perhaps like me, you too will be prompted to upgrade to JESUS OS.

No offense to the Christians out there who I can consider my friends(i.e. people who use their brains, and who don't bash me for being an atheist), but some Christian's tend to fall back into a shell of Bible lore, when faced against atheist logic, and can't really answer without breaking the atheist's will. (Trust me, no one can break an atheist's will. It's not possible, because the only way would be absolute proof of God, and that is not feasible. The entire religion-thing is based off of faith, and not everyone wants to have to hope on a slim chance. Some prefer just to accept the cold, hard truth, or at least what they think must be the truth.)

If your talking to Christians about christian thing then of course they/we are going to be talking and using Bible verses. The reason why "some" people talk to other's like they are not human beings is because they are lack of practice in their witnessing and they do not know how to handle the situation. I think they are just nervous, as i'm sure you are too.
But you are not talking about non christian stuff then they/we will not talk about christian stuff. But this is a catagory for religious and spirituality. So this is why most all people answer in Bible or their religion answer's!

Well, if you want to talk about sports, weather, or some topic other than Christianity, I have no problem with that. There's no need to quote the Bible in situations that aren't appropriate.
But if we're talking about my religious beliefs, which are Christian, then there will be times that I will quote the Bible. It is the basis for my beliefs, after all, and telling me not to use it to support a particular point is like telling a doctor that they can't quote from the JAMA.
Socially, though, we can talk about anything without me bringing up something from the Bible. :-)

do you mean a talk as in "how about those dodgers?" or a talk as in, "yes I believe in god and this is why..." from personal experience and not the bible because I can do that. I notice you have a lot of questions regarding religion and instead of making me believe you are 100% aethiest (spelling?) it makes me wonder if you are just kind of wondering yourself, like "does god exhist? maybe, maybe not, Im not sure". I cant make you Believe. And a true christian shouldnt judge you for not believing because it says in the bible that its not for us to judge and that we will be judged by the same token we judged others so next time a christian starts spouting off to you just remind them of that because you may not believe in the bible but they should. :)

I do refer to the Bible as authority on most things but not when I am speaking to someone who does not believe in God, much less God's word. I can and do converse with atheists at times. Most I have found to be interesting people and I like chatting with them as long as they are respectful of my beliefs. Some do not seem to understand that when they denigrate God or the Bible, it is insulting and hurtful.

Now, that is strange.
Cuz I would like to chat with more atheists that don't try to tell me that my faith is no more valid than a child's faith in the Tooth Fairy.
Maybe, if atheists would treat Christians like human beings, they would return the favor.
(I'm sure there is a Bible verse for this situation, but I'm just too darned lazy to look it up for you. I'm fairly certian there'll be another Christian along shortly who is more energetic than I am, though...)
So, what would you like to talk about?

Like the hackers that only speak bianary, Bible thumping chrisians (NOT ALL) can only seem to remember 30 words and 2 digit numbers.
Don't give up hope, there are intelligent people in every religion! you just have to be more patient with some crowds than others.

For Christian our guide line is based on Bible. The Bible words are life. If you are a Christian, anything you talk, do and etc should be based on Bible quotation instead of your own opinion which might be wrong, therefore more christian they take bible as a base/foundation to stand in their life and they success fren.

Thank you for sharing this insight...I'll try to remember that. And I look forward to seeing some of your questions. And I do use a lot of common-place analogies (after all a certain carpenter from 2000 years ago liked to do the same - sorry, I couldn't resist).
