Oh yes,
He sent himself to be sacrificed to himself to appease himself over wrongs done to himself.

What a great guy!

Yes He did that but don't think for a second that you can even begin to understand all of the wisdom and love that was involved in this propitiatory sacrifice... when in God's power, He knew real well that only Jesus, His Son, (and not Himself, like that poor girl, obviously and understandingly perturbed by such a nonsense of a man-made up lie!) would go the limit, right down to death. The reason He knew this is that Jesus, when in heaven, before accepting this humongous sacrifice had already thought about it and graciously accepted as he was with his Father from the very first creation they all did together and what he loved the most of all... was mankind... He loved us as much as his Father did... and because it is impossible to see God and live, he (the son) accepted to come and satisfy divine justice... once and for all... Now that's Divine Justice... which is practically impossible for you, to even get the sense of, or so it seems... or you wouldn't be needing to ask that question! Especially not with that tone of bitter sarcasm which protrudes from it! Forgive me if I'm wrong on that point!!! But, that's the impression it gives me!!!
Surely, if it would have been today, he would have gotten the chair, or a lethal injection, but in those days, that's how they killed their criminals... on a torture stake... and it isn't God who is interested in "sins", it is the god of 2 Corinthians 4:4 and John 8:44... If people had a clue of what they are doing, they wouldn't ever question the true God's motives... as He promises to make it up to each and everyone of us!!! To the point where any pain or suffering we ever endured in this temporary life, which has really nothing to do with the real life that He meant for us to have or of anything that is awaiting us after Armageddon...

In the movie "Nuns On The Run" one of the guys masquerading as a nun, who is Catholic, is trying to explain the Holy Trinity to the Jewish guy. "But it doesn't make any sense!", says the Jewish guy. "Aah, but if it made any sense you wouldn't have to accept it on faith, would you?" says the Catholic. So just accept it that all of this stuff is from the Spiritual Plane where logic, facts, reality, etc, do not apply.

One would think on why the torture had to be so sever and his death so grisly.
Would the end result be the same if Jesus was poisoned ?

This should teach you just how bad sin is, and that you can never be good enough or work enough to earn your own salvation. Salvation is of Jesus and Jesus alone.

Sounds like an utter lack of planning to me.

Excuse me while I double-check the definition of "omniscient."
