Bikers (like me) prefer larger/darker cigars, ones that can stay lit while on the bike!
My favorite is the J&R Ultimate #1 from http://jrcigar.com
His tastes may differ, if you know one that he likes, call 1-800-jrcigar, tell the rep what he likes, and ask her to recommend a great (yet similar cigar).

Cuban cigars are illegal and overrated, dont listen to anybody who tells you that those are better, because they don't know...I've been smoking cigars for years now, and, if you want some nice cigars...I'd recommend that you try to track down some Fuente Fuente Opus X...depending on what area you live in these may be kind of hard to find...I'd also recommend Padron 1926...
both of those are pretty much the best of the best as far as what's commercially available out there, and as such will command a heavy price tag...if you'd prefer to get him a bit more reasonably priced box, I'd recommend either the Arturo Fuente Hemingway line, or just about anything made by Carlos Torano...I'd stay away from Montecristos as they are kind of over rated...although some guys really like them...
Truthfully, my best suggestion is to take note of what brands he enjoys the most, then go to your local cigar shop and ask if they could provide you with a good suggestion based on his current favorites...

Cigars can get kinda spendy. I've not spent more than a buck on one in years though.
I used to like Antonio y Cleopatra Grenadiers, and for a more expensive choice try any from Garcia y Vega
