As I asked:
"So the pope Didn't abolish Limbo?
& every one is going nutty.
According to the catholic family i live with in italy (who's son went to a private catholic school 5 minuets from vatican city) say that Limbo is where the unbaptised babies go.
Limbo was never IN THE BIBLE but it was part of the indoctornation.
and here: says babies don't go there any more: abcnews states he made a 41 page statement about it why would he if it was never a part of the ideology?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/5406552.stm
this states it is a less popular feature laitly but still there.
Google the words "pope" and "Limbo" 611,000 hits for you right there!
To the question.
I've heard that this is to only save the babies, or to get rid of it, or to say it never existed. I'd like to know what this announce ment exactly means. Anyone know? Does anyone know where to find the documents?

...
And why can't I ask an objective religious question without being accused of bashing?!

The Church has pondered the suggestion of Limbo for a few hundred years and has decided that it is not a good idea. Limbo was never official doctrine.

Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved." (Mark 16:15-16)

For centuries, people have wondered about children who died before they were baptized. The Bible does not explicitly state that they will go to heaven.

Limbo was suggested as the place where unbaptized babies went when they died. This idea was never official Church doctrine and has been rejected.

The Church now says that it is not sure what happens to unbaptized babies when they die but she entrusts them to the mercy of God.

With love in Christ.

It appears to be being modified now and its unofficial universality quesitoned. The RCC might be going back to an older form of the doctrine as held by Orthodoxy. However, it is a bit of a mess, and I've pieced some of that together from the various blogs on it. There doesn't appear to be anything official about it though.

There are extra branches of the Catholic Church all in union with the Pope via fact the non secular chief. no longer all Catholics are of the Latin ceremony and there are those Sedevancists that are chop up faraway from us. they provide thought to themselves "extra Catholic than the Pope."

Limbo is not Catholic dogma!

JESUS: I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me."

"Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One"

I daresay only the pope and his aides know exactly why they went to all the trouble of debating the issue and then publishing the decision. My guess is that it's a political move. The pope has some more unpleasant things to say to his flock and he's getting this silly issue out of the way before knuckling down to the important stuff.

'Limbo' was never a part of 'official' Roman Catholic teaching, but was mainly a tradition that the congregation propogated.

The theory of Limbo "remains a possible theological opinion".
