There's this guy at my local neighborhood store that works as a cashier and he is HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
haha enough T's there to get my point across?

I'm shy, but, how do I take the time to talk to him when we only have a few sec's maybe 2x a week when I go grocery shopping? It's not like I can buy out the whole store so that he'll take longer scanning and start talking to me!! What's a great conversation hook? Something that will get him interested (no pick up lines please or anything that you wouldn't do in real life!!)

There's a lot of things that come into play here honey, and I don't want you to make a fool out of yourself. He could already have a girlfriend and if he does, you'd come off as foolish no matter what. So here's what I suggest. Jokingly start a conversation. Since you go into the store at least twice a week, the next time you are at the register, say, don't look now, but the old lady is checking you out. He's gonna laugh and remember you the next time you come in. Then on the next time, say "so did you hook up with grandma?". Each time, make small talk. Before you know it, the conversation will get easier and easier.

As a bonus, you'll be finding out more about him and will know if it's safe to move onto a new level of flirtation...or simply move on.

Then just strike up a conversation ans ask if he'd like to join you for coffee or a drink after work.

You could say something like "You look really familiar... i mean from somewhere other than here.. where did/do you go to school?" Even if this isn't true and you've never seen him in your life its ok to lie a little and it'll get you guys talking.

If you guys are already sort of aquaintances then you could just say something like "Hey are you watching/going to the game this weekend?" or something like that.
