I have a little Shih Tzu and am out of food. We live 1 1/2 hours away from any store so there is not much I can do till tomorrow. Will it make her sick to eat a cooked all beef hot dog?

Actually, if you need to make homemade food, the best thing for her is plain white rice and either boiled hamburger, or boiled chicken. Canned Tuna in water, or channed chicken will work too. I'd worry about an all beef hot dog because of the salt and filler content. Read the label. It might make her sick if it's too rich, or it might give her the runs, but atleast her belly won't be empty.

no, every once in a while it won't hurt and if its all you have it'll be fine. Just don't make a habit of it small dogs have a hard time processing foods with high fat content. Go ahead and feed it the hot dog :)

Probably not, I'd only give her half. Cut it up so she doesn't choke on a round piece. You don't need to cook it as hot dogs are pre-cooked.
I used to use diced, nuked hot dogs as training treats.
Canned tuna (in water) is another good emergency food.

Well..... we effectively don't have a government anymore what with Bush heading it up. No food inspectors. They still don't know where the Salmonella comes from in the tomatoes. So if something doesn't feel right - don't eat it. YOU are now the food inspector.

It is fine.
Did you know before WWII there wasn't pet food, people just fed their animals table scraps.
I have a dog that goes nuts over Thai food (it is the only time he attempts to get into the trash)

It may give her the runs but if you have some rice to mix intothe hot dog that would be better than nothing.

no...do you not realize that dogs are wild animals. they can stomach just about anything meat-related as long as it isn't spoiled too bad. you could feed it to the dog raw and it would be fine.

The hotdog will be fine. I had a small poodle as a child. He use to take my hotdog a lot. He was fine.
