Today my apartment was infested with ants so I sprayed them with a can of raid and watched them curl up and twitch in agonizing pain as they slowly suffocated to death. Was this wrong? I felt sorry for killing the bugs but what could I do, they were everywhere.

You don't feel sorry. You enjoyed watching them writhe in agony as they died in horrible pain. You laughed, I know you did. You drank the heady wine of the executioner. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there were not sexual connotations as well. You could have stopped, but no. You had to finish your ghoulish task in a final outburst of orgasmic passion. Repent at once or your hell will be full of ants. Yes, ants will be the administrators of poetic justice. You have been warned.

This really depends on your outlook on life and religion. jainism, the religion Ghandi was eventually kicked from for killing a suffering sheep (lamb), the killing of any living being, no matter how small, is a sin.

Christianity has no qualms about the death of 'lower' life forms, just the killing of other humans.

Take stock of your beliefs, and reconcile your past. If you truly feel bad, take measures to prevent the ants returning to your apartment, to avoid having to kill again. AND, do what I do... head out into the forest, and do something nice for nature. Leave food for bugs, or a quarter or two around for raccoons to find. Personally, I try to balance all acts.

Its a good question to ponder, even though I dont have the answer.

In a way killing being smaller then you is not different then say, aliens coming and killing us just because we are a smaller mass of beings. I know that sounds far fetched, but do you see my point?

I think as long as you dont seek out animals and insects and kill them for pleasure, it's ok. Just ask GOD for forgiveness && let him know how you feel.

:)

I hope you wore a gas mask or something when you sprayed the poison & stayed in your apartment. I hope you didn't inhale any of that stuff. Unhealthy either way. Open a window.

Let me get this straight--male kills ants at home with poison--if you put a U in there you could be in trouble. Be glad U wasn't there.

Why would it be a sin???
Mankind was given authority over the earth. We can do what we like with it. By invading your home, those insects were 'sinning' against an official Steward of the Earth. They got what they deserved.

Actually Biblically speaking no it is not a sin. God gave Adam (man) dominion over every living thing (birds fish and animals.) God told Adam to rule over them.

When you describe it like that...yeah. But, its not your fault they were in your apartment. Everybody is human....we all sin! If there are people who think they don't sin....they probably sin a lot. Plus, if you purposely went around stomping on them for your pleasure...it is definately a sin.

Yes, it is a sin to kill those little souls.

Now go repent by helping out a penguin...
