I've had to wear rubberbands... let's see... 3 or 4 times now. You start by wearing them until your next appoinment (about a month for me) and then they either say you can stop, or they say keep wearing them til the next one, where the process repeats.
You will NOT have to wear the rubber bands for the full time.. anyway it's VERY unlikely, I've never heard of that happening. It'll probably just be 1-3 months at a time or so.
And it won't always hurt either! :)

My friend had a huge overbite and got braces and she had to wear rubberbands on hers as well. I always thought braces were SO cool I have always wanted them but my teeth are too straight already. You don't have to keep the rubberbands on for the whole 2 years just for a coupl months at least. I think the rubberbands were cool! Don't open your mouth too wide or of course the rubberband will pop. Good Luck!

I had braces years back, for about 3-4 years. I had just braces for about the first 2-3 years, and later was given the rubberbands. Each month, I would get tighter wires, and couple months tighter rubberbands. I think I had them on for a year or a bit more. Hurts at first, but you get used to it and forget it's there.

the less compliant you are about wearing them the longer it will take for the tooth to move and the longer you will have to wear them. I wear 4 right now horizontal back top to lower insisors on both sides and vertical insisor top to insisor lower and HATE them with a wild purple passion and I am been wearing them for 6 months because I am not very compliant and forget to change them often enough or put a new one on when one pops while I am trying to talk or eat I wear 1/4 xtra heavy and 3/4 heavy and I have had braces since 10/03

No, it's doubtful you'll have to have those rubber-bands the whole time. They probably just want to get that bad part done and over with early. I had to have rubber-bands for a while, but luckily only on the sides.
This was like back in '92-'94, so I honestly don't remember quite how long I had to have them.
Well, if anything you could just try to go with it and see what cool colors you can get and just be funky like that. I know I was able to get packs of an assortment of colors. (Maybe they make glow in the dark ones?? lol)

Your braces will probably go through many stages of different or no accessories like rubber bands. You might only need these until the problem they're correcting is in place and doesn't move. They might come off and go back on if it does.
I doubt it'll be on longer than they need to be to correct it.

It relies upon on in the adventure that your bite is the place it must be. in simple terms attempt your suitable to positioned on them as much as you are able to. I easily have missed a week earlier, and it did no longer look to have any result on my therapy time.
