I need to find a medication that is similar to Allegra 180mg. I have to refrain from taking Benadryl cause it makes me sleepy and if I have to work in the afternoon it doesn't help me much if I cannot function. The medication has to be over the counter. Help?

The joy of allergies. I have tried a lot of prescription medications and over the counter ones. FEW do much for me. I have found some relief from Airborne or Mucinex. You won't know if they work for you until you try them. Look for the smallest bottles and try them. There are a lot of other options, Zyrtec, Claritin, etc. There are also some herbal and homeopathic ones that might help as well. Echinachea and Golden Seal help. My Dad also uses a saline solution that helps him.

I don't think so, my insurance won't pay for Allegra because they claim there is an equivalent over the counter and my pharmacist said there is NOT an equivalent Clairitin is the closest thing but he said it is NOT the same drug at all. So, I pay out of pocket for the Allegra its worth it, talk to your pharmacist about this one.
