Psychiatry. It's a branch of medicine, and psychiatrists are MD's.

Psychologists are Ph.D.'s and don't generally use drugs, although a psychologist may work with a "p.doc" or prescribing doctor to see that a patient gets medication.

Psychiatry treats mental illness, usually with psychiatric medications. The medications are usually not used as prevenative treatments. There are herbal pills such as St. John's Wert that a lot of people with minor mental health issues use to feel better.

If you're looking for the more specific part of science for this, it's psychopharmacology. Psychiatrists do both psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy, but some don't do much of the former.
