What would make you think church is any more scary then going to the grocery store? Church is a place of worship and is only scary if you don't use your common sense when listening to the sermon. If the minster is saying things that sound off the wall, or doing nothing but asking for money every five seconds, or talking about only getting to heaven if you are perfect or of a certain religion then yes that's pretty scary. But church is a place where you should feel welcome and at peace. no one is perfect, not even the people in church but the real scary place is driving down the road with all the road rage going on, or standing in line at the grocery store and not letting someone cut in front of you.Any place on the planet can be scary if you are alone so try to see if you can get someone to go with you to church! I think you will find that it's not such a scary place after all.If nobody wants to go along SO WHAT, just go anyway and for the first few times sit more towards the back until you feel more comfortable, and listen to your heart and your common sense and if one church does not feel right to you try a different one.You will know the right one when you find it.

Which church?
Services held in Gothic cathedrals can be scary, especially if you don't know any body. Televangelists and radio preachers can be scary with all of their yelling and promising death and damnation to all sinners. Church groups with nothing but really really old people carrying oxygen tanks on their wheelchairs can be scary.
But the neighborhood church that rings its real, original bell down the street could be kind of nice. The happening church group on the corner a few blocks away that regularly has concerts with local Christian rock bands looks fun. The church group with the great group of friendly kids and the BMX track behind it looks real interesting.
There are so many churches and church groups to pick from, it's scary. I reccommend going to different churches with different friends, so you know someone there and you know what your friends believe. You may find a church where you walk in and suddenly feel at home. And if your home is not scary, then neither will that church be.
Good luck.

It is only scary if you think its gonna be that way, its only boring if you expect it to be boring..Church can be a lot fun, a church that is Spirit Filled can be alot of fun and it is not scary or boring, I like it when we all get together and start clapping our hands to the music and raising our hands toward heaven to give all the praise to God, how can something like that be scary? But there are some churches out there that don't do things like lifting your hands and praising God, but thats what I am used to and theres nothing scary about it.

Church shouldn't be scary at all. Of course, anything that is new has a tendency to be scary, but only because you are unfamiliar with it. Church is a place to enhance the relationship between yourself and God as well as interact with and encourage those who believe in a similar way as yourself. Just as in any organization, there are some churches that accomplish their goals and some that don't. I would encourage you to try it and see. Try not to make decisions based on fear, but what your heart tells you.

No, church is not scary, however, people pretending to be Christians but having other than Christian motives can be. Just remember that most people going to church are decent folk who just want to worship God.

Certain churches can be very frightening to certain people. For example if you do not like loud noise and people rolling on the floor there are some churches that may frighten you. People who are afraid of water or smoke may not like other churches. There are even churches that I would not recommend for people who are afraid of snakes.

Absolutely not. Make Friends, listen, be respectful to every one because even Church people get mad when respect isn't given to them. Ask questions and learn.
You'll do fine. Go ahead a go to church.
Once you get their and feel you have a good grasp for yourself on your religious beliefs, Go, Show, and Grow. Reach out to people and help them out.
