Because it is easier.
Easier to live life not feeling judged. Taking full credit for all your own accomplishments..not crediting it a might er being.
The bible talks about people, who find it inconvenient to be worshipers of god.
(2 Tim ) Brings out "Lover of themselves rather than lovers of God. "
Sad, isint it?

I've been puzzling over this for weeks. Believers truly believe, atheists absolutely don't, and neither faction sees any sense at all in the opposite side's position. My personal guess is that Christians are solipsistic thinkers, which means they assume that their own subjective perceptions actually are objective reality. I think atheists tend to think abstractly and to conceptualize an almost entirely academic view of the nature of objective reality. Solipsism is the "default" viewpoint of human conscious awareness and atheists do rely on it when driving their cars or watching a good movie. The difference may be that atheists also use logic and reason to define the boundries of their view of reality.
For example, take the existence of radio waves. A solipsistic thinker has no choice but to BELIEVE that radio waves exist, because his radio obviously works and everybody he knows swears that radio waves are real. On the other hand, an abstract thinker can measure the length of an antenna, measure the frequency of the radio signal, look up the speed of light, and use a mathematical formula to confirm that the measured frequency is exactly equal to the calculated frequency. Because the math works perfectly every time, the abstract thinker KNOWS that radio waves are real. The problem with God is there is no objective test for His presence. Because of this profound lack, an abstract thinker has no choice but to deny God's objective existence.
I would also like to point out that I do not "believe" in anything, not ever. I either know, or I don't know, but I cannot compromise my integrity by accepting a proposition as true, without substantiating evidence. That would be blatantly dishonest.

I'm not quite sure I understand where the little tirade in the "additional details" is coming from...I don't see anybody answering you defensively or acting like they're offended that you mentioned God. Your question went from sounding like you were asking about our beliefs to sounding extremely hostile and critical.
I have no problem talking to people about why I don't believe in God, if they honestly want to know, and aren't just looking to hurl insults. I grew up a believer, and I had a very strong faith growing up. But as I got older, the idea of a magical, supernatural, invisible super-being up in the sky just started to not make sense to me. It's like when YOU think of the ancient Greeks, and how they believed in Zeus, Athena, and all the other gods. You think it's primitive and silly, and you wonder how they could have actually BELIEVED in that stuff. Well, they believed as fervently in their gods as you believe in yours, and they believed in their gods for thousands of years. And their ideas and beliefs weren't any more ridiculous than the beliefs held today. I just started to feel that we were stuck in a primitive mind-set, believing in gods.

First of all, people are allowed to have their own opinion. I am not an atheist, but I'm sure they have their reasons as to why they don't believe in God. I have a friend whose Atheist and I don't give him trouble about it. People are going to have their own opinions and your "additional" details showed signs of immatureity. Seriously, grow up. You're making the rest of us look bad.

The pride of life. Man choosing to be god. Man wanting his own way. Man wanting to control his life. Rebellion against his Creator. Man choosing to not acknowledge God so he can fool himself into believing he, himself, is all that. If you tell yourself something long enough, you really do begin to believe it; but that's a dangerous game when it comes to the true living God. He will not be ignored nor will He have any gods before Him.

How can you not believe in Ra, Odin, Zeus, Jupiter, Zoroaster, Cai Shen, Quetzalcoatl, Assase Ya and the FSM? ... And why don't you believe *everything* else: gnomes, fairies, Santa, goblins, bigfoot, crossed fingers (and on and on)? There's an *equal amount* of evidence for all of these.
( Same reason for me rejecting your "God(s)"… Questions? )

Don't try to understand this. People who beleive in God obviously have something called FAITH. Those who don't have it will never understand it because it cannot be seen or physically proved. The way to heaven is narrow....

Agnostics & Athiests are filled with pride, ego, arrogance and most of all "Doubt", both internal and external. This doubt Makes them require scientific data, to prove that they were created.
Its as though a bushel basket is covering the light within them!
And I love them each and everyone!
