All my cats go outside, but one. I have four cats. So three go outside. Theres a really nasty cat roaming my neighboorhood, and it has been foaming, ear torn off, and it's just plain creepy. I try not to let my cats outside but they still go out, so my question is what are the signs of any kind of bad cancer? And how do I get rid of the cat? And will my other cat get their sickness?

Cancer is not transmittable. However, Feline AIDS, Feline Leukemia, Rabies, and a number of other DEADLY diseases are.

You need to bring your cats inside and get this other cat into rescue or into a shelter. Leaving your cats outside is not acceptable and not responsible. You are asking for them to be maimed, mutilated, killed, or sickened.

Call animal control and have them come get this obviously sick and suffering cat roaming your neighborhood.

And again, bring your cats inside so that they don't become him down the road.

Edit:"Some forms of cancer are contagious. Particularly those caused by viruses. The human pamploma virus causes cervical cancer," HPV does not always cause Cervical cancer. There are tons of people living with different forms of HPV that never get cervical cancer. In fact, it's only in rare cases that cervical cancer comes from HPV. Either way, the virus is contagious, not the cancer. http://www.cdc.gov/std/HPV/STDFact-HPV.htm

Hello self_scars,

One of the reasons why the stray cat appears to be foaming at the mouth could be that it is drooling saliva because of problems in its mouth (i.e. tooth problems, gum infection, sore throat). Tooth/gum problems are very common in domestic cats but they are not contagious. However the cat would be in a lot of pain. If you mention this to your vet they should give you a number for a local cat rescue group. Please be so kind to call them ASAP so that they can trap the cat and provide it with veterinary care. That then should also solve your problem of seeing a "creepy" cat roam the neighbourhood.

Please keep me up to date with the further development of this case - I'm interested in what the outcome will be.

Thanks
chirpy

Cancer is not contagious! There are contagious diseases in cats FIV and feline leukemia your cats could get if bitten by an infected cat. This usually happens in mating fights and a male may bite a female when he mates with her.

You should call animal control and see if you can get a humane trap for the cat. or if they will take him for you. Even if the cat must be euthanized it is better than his suffering from injury with no one taking care of him.

Some forms of cancer are contagious. Particularly those caused by viruses. The human pamploma virus causes cervical cancer, there is virus that causes feline leukemia and other nasty diseases. Definitely get your cat to the vet for the vaccines. But as long as you let him outside, he is in great danger of death by the automobile virus.
