yes its bad as your body goes into starvation mode and so actually stores more fat, so when you actually eat it will store everything you eat instead of using it and make you put on more weight.
You are best to lower your portion sizes, lower fats and carb intake, drink at least 2 litres of water a day and begin some exercise.
I am overweight and decided 3 weeks agop to make a lifestyle change, I am no longer snaking between meals except to have one tube of low fat youghurt and piece of fruit and I now walk for one hour each night and I have lost 2 - 21/2 Kg each week!!

YES! It is bad! Ok...... don't stop eating, u'll only make urself sick. Try cutting out most sugary and fatty foods and start some light exercise (increase the exercise as u get fitter). Eat healthily and exercise regularly and u should lose some weight. Before u know it u'll be at ur goal weight. It won't happen over night, but u'll begin to see results sooner than u think.
Alternatively, try joining a weight loss club. Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Sure Slim..... they all work wonders for people in ur position.
All the best and good luck.

yeah, it is really bad - you will lose water weight and muscle not fat and slow down metabolism dramatically. plus you will gain back more than lost as soon as start eating normal
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Yes, this is very bad, your metabolism will slow down because your body thinks it is starving. You should eat a low fat low cholesterol diet and get some exercise. You should also drink 8-8oz glasses of water a day, this helps you lose weight also. It helps to flush out your body of impurities. I am assuming you are a basically healthy individual, but if you are not then please consult with your doctor before starting your diet and exercise routine. I am an RN

Extremely bad. Too many people are focused on losing weight, but what you should really concern yourself with is your level of body fat. When you starve yourself, you don't lose body fat, you lose muscle and this essentially makes you fatter!
What you need to do is have your body fat percentage tested. Then when you know what you are dealing with, you want to work on losing body fat and gaining muscle. To do this will be a combination of cardio and strength training and a high protein, low fat diet with plenty of low GI carbs.
Protein: Turkey, chicken, eggs, fish, beans/pulses, nuts/seeds, lean beef/ham.
Low GI Carbs: Fruit, vegetables, wholemeal foods/cereals.
You may even find that you lose very little weight, but your body fat percentage will be lower because you will be losing fat and gaining muscle in it's place.
Good luck : )

As a physician that has a specialization in weight loss and in performance for athletes, its possible to lose weight and look and feel better if you make a true LIFESTYLE CHANGE .
I wouldnt focus on how many pounds but how you look and feel. It may not be realistic to lose 30 lbs in 45 days but you can make a great start on feeling and looking better.
First and foremost, starvation is NOT the way to go. So follow these steps, its not easy at first but it simply depends how motivated you are, and once you start to see results you will never go back!!
1. First , you must eat often. 5-6 times a day AND IT HAS TO BE A NUTRITIOUS DIET NOT JUNK. you want to gain muscle and lose fat . Starvation does not work in a healthy manner , your body simply slows down your metabolism. Bodies that are well fed mobilize fats for energy and build healthy lean muscle.
Bodies that are starved 12 hours a day simply tend to STORE the next meal they do get because it doesnt know when the next meal is coming. Its evolution in action.
Another way to look at it.You can't build a temple out of mud right? Three sensible meals with 2-3 supplemental meals.(see #2 below) So NO refined sugars( no pop candies cookies etc) minimal refined grains like white bread and white pasta and white rice. If its white its not right. (whole grains in bread and pastas etc) whole grains have much higher fiber content, greater vitamin content and digest slower to blunt the carbohydrate release into the bloodstream.
Protein is essential. Lean meats, especially chicken breast, turkey breast. and fish, baked or steamed not fried. Extra meals should be high protein low carb low fat such as a protein shake. (there are many on the market that are not too expensive) Vegetables should be consumed at least 5 times a day. Water should be consumed aggressively 6-10 glasses a day.
Bodybuilders that are trying to gain weight use whey protein shakes in bewtween meals to provide muscles with the building blocks they need to GROW!! You have the same goal as they do: FAT loss and LEAN mass gain So these are very helpful. They are not expensive. I get my whey protein powder at Sams Club for 22 dollars for 6 pounds. thats enough for 3-4 month at least. You can add fruit to it and blend it to make it a tastier. I also add my vitamin supplements to those shakes.
2. RESISTANCE TRAINING is KEY!! The mistake that many folks who are trying to lose weight is to do all cardio and no weight training. it should be at least 30-50% weight training. that means WEIGHTS or sit ups, pull ups ,chin ups, and dips. Muscles only grow when they are pushed near thier maximum ability. So hit a weight room, get a buddy to help you. You might have to start at lower weights but hey they all started there. You do this for YOU and not for anyone else.
Go to the library and get an excellent book like BODY FOR LIFE by BILL MILLER. He lays it all out for you in a motivational and educational way. Go out get motivated, educate yourself and no whining because only you have the power to obtain your goals YOU CAN DO IT!!
You have to make real lifestyle change and truly eat better and exercise. I know you can do it!!!! any other questions? email me at vita_min_md@yahoo.com

Please don't go there. Your body knows when it is deprived of nutrients and will use your muscles for food. Also, you can cause serious harm to your internal organs. See a nutritionist about a proper diet, get involved in some form of excersize and know this will take time. Ask your family to help you form a healthier life style and never, never get involved with fad diets. I'm rooting for you!

yeah crash diets never work plus your body will see the food lackage as starving so it will hold onto the fat cells longer and when you do eat they will grow larger
