This was the first time I've used Yahoo answers; otherwise I would I have been more tactful with my question!
Can I just point out I'm not a pervert, but a journo and needed this info for a piece I'm writing.

The law is unclear. Sexual offences are very overlapping. Having sex with a 16 year old is classed as rape (since you can not consent to sex before you are 16), thus the max sentence is life imprisonment. But then section 9 states that the maximum sentence for sex with a person under 16 is 14 years if you go to a trial or 6 months if you go to the magistrates' court. So toss a coin.

The maximum sentence is life, under the CJA2003 and depending on offending history this can mean in indeterminate sentence.
I don't believe for a minute you're a journo, if you were then you'd go straight to the legislation or other first hand sources.

I'm somewhat concerned about your journalistic credentials if you are seeking answers on sites like this. Who do you write for?
Try looking up http://www.opsi.gov.uk and looking at the Sexual Offences Act 2003, Ss 5 to 15.
Personally, I think that's more than enough help and am absolutely startled that, as a journalist, you aren't exhibiting more competent research skills.

Sounds like you are conserdering the deed and want to know how much it is going to cost.
It is not just the prison time, you get labled as a sex offender and have to register with the police and also tell every employer when you try to get a job, forever.
The shame upon you will last till you die.

Depends if you're 15 years yourself or 20 upwards.
If two kids decide they want to have sex under age that is still breaking the law, but there will probably be no trial, but a grown adult should know better.
I think testicle removal is the absolute most you can get for it, i'm not sure, but best you stay away just incase.

Sex with a person under 16 years is unlawful sexual intercourse not rape as in USA.The more serious offence is sex with a female under 14 years of age.The law isn't simple and need some study on your part .

dont no but i would like to think its LIFE if your like 40 or 50 and do it with a 16 yr old then never mind life in jail they should be taking a seat in the chair!
