There are number of stretching exercises that a person with a desk job should perform on a regular basis. These stretches are intended to be preventive measures, but they may help you as well.
This is just one of the many sites where you'll find suggestions:

Plus, you get some great 1970s graphics to cheer you up.

awww man that sucks! i take it you are right handed? could be the start of something serious, like carpal tunnel. yes, even that can effect how your shoulder feels. i had surgery on both hands for it, and i had pain in the muscle on my forearm, shoulder and sometimes neck. any repetitious job, can cause inflammation. could be other seriously painful things, like bursitis. that would cause you not to be able to lift your arm.hope you get it figured out quick, and you are feeling better fast. nothing worse than living with pain.

Repetitive movement causes most of modern day upper cervical problems. Advil soft gel capsules are very good for helping with Pain, taken four times a day. you can place a heating pad on the shoulder for twenty minutes. I highly recommend you see a chiropractor as soon as possible as they are specialists in these types of problems. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area.

Sounds like you pulled a rotator cuff . You are done my friend.
Ice it down, don't use it much but it will always be there .
Give it a while, it will slowly feel better and heal ...just dont expect to do much bench pressing in the future .Good Luck

may be neck related. 1. see chiropractor or 2. roll a towel into a sausage and put under neck, lying flat on back to sleep. if this does not improve/help, go back to #1.
Best of luck!
