Balsamic Vinaigrette. Depending on your pasta salad. Here is one that I like.
1Kiwano melon
1\4 cup of lemon juice
1\4 cup of red wine vinegar
1\4 cup of olive oil
spring water
mint
Process it all together, and use it sparingly, should be good.

I don't use bottled dressing, but love a summer pasta salad... esp. with grilled salmon in it. Yummmm.
I would suggest looking for a nice honey mustard dressing for that. If you have fish or chicken in the salad, try adding some tarragon too.
I found this recipe. Pretty much how I make it (I just never know amounts... I generally wing it):
3/4 c. salad oil
1/4 c. vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
Dash ground pepper
1/2 c. honey
1/2 tsp. celery seed
Combine salad oil, vinegar, salt, sugar, paprika, dry mustard, pepper, honey and celery seed in a glass jar with a tight fitting cover. Blend by shaking well. Chill at least 1 hour or more.
Suggestion: You can add a little regular mustard to that as well

In my opinion, the best pasta salad dressing would be
Taco seasoning and some mayonnaise.

Kraft used to make a light Italian Parmesan. Maybe they still do and I can't find it. But that stuff was awesome on pasta!
