Here's why.

In the Ten Commandments, the prohibition is against murder. In other words, killing someone for personal reasons or personal gain.

Killing in the name of God is sanctioned throughout the Bible.

What do you think all of the stoning was for? Sure the Christians were more into burning people, but they got a taste for revenge after Nero and just never quit.

I look at the Old Testament as a history lesson. It was the period before grace and stonings and murder in the name of God prevailed. AFTER grace, murder needed to stop. We are to have faith, hope and love with LOVE being the greatest of these. If we LOVE, why would we murder? And we are to treat our neighbor as we would ourselves, so why would we kill? In the Old Testament, the commands sanctioned by God were different. But the bloodshed of Christ heralded a brand new era. We are to spread the word and not go about killing. If we go about murdering in the name of God aren't we just as bad as those nutty suicide bombers that have destroyed so much and cost so many lives?

What are you reading? The Gospel According to St. Hitler?

Killing in the name of God is so NOT sanctioned throughout the bible.

Yes, people were killed. People killed the Hebrews and the Hebrews killed people in turn.

This is exactly why I get so angry when Christians say the Quran sanctions killing. We have the same killing mentioned in our own scriptures.

But it's not the picture you paint here.

The greatest commandment is LOVE. Remember that.

There is NO reason to kill in the name of God. People keep asking and SHOULD keep asking until the message gets across.

You just gave up, didn't you? I completely understand. Expecting these people to realize that their tribal superhero is only powerful and loving in their minds is an exercise in futility.

I just wish we could make them read some history, so they can see how much their religion 'borrowed' from others as their writers went about legitimizing their terrorist behavior.

I honestly feel bad for you. You close off the light. Even as you read this...you blind yourself.
