No.

God is not in "things."

I do not for one second believe he wants us hating or killing each other over places or items or differences in how we worship Him.

Al-Masjid al-Ḥarām (المسجد الحرام IPA: [ʔælˈmæs.ʤi.dæl.ħɑˈrɑːm] "The Sacred Mosque"), is a large mosque in the city of Mecca, and the largest in Islam, and the largest religious building on Earth. It surrounds the Kaaba, the place which all Muslims turn towards each day in prayer and consider to be the holiest place on Earth. The mosque is also commonly known as the Haram or Haram Sharif.[1]

The current structure covers an area of 356,800 square meters including the outdoor and indoor praying spaces and can accommodate up to 820,000 worshippers during the Hajj period.

From Wickpedia

Hajj is the pilgrimage every Muslim is encouraged to make at least once in their lifetime.

I think the attitude expressed by the answers here exemplifies exactly how this war began.

We maintain a military base in their Holy Land. We wear shoes on sacred ground. We ignore their requests that we withdraw.

I'm not a military genius. I cannot say if it is worth it. But it is this that we are paying the price for.

I wish just for once, that we could have a big war without it being 'holy' or 'God's will'. It would be much more fun if people would put on their Nike's and -'just do it'
