I live with my boyfriend and his sister. She brought a cat home. She is never home to care for the cat, but we are and we love doing it. We buy his food and litter 98% of the time, but i usually throw out my receipts. She paid for his vaccinations, but we paid to have the cat neutered. I don't want her to try and take the cat if she leaves, but I don't know if she has a right to.

I'd contact your vets office and see if there is any record of you bringing the cat in. Get it in writing.
Save your receipts for food and litter.

The cat is hers. You should have a talk with her about this and keep all your receipts from now on, but really, you paid for neutering and she paid for vaccinations, sounds like it's jointly owned. so get all these things discussed before you may have to suffer a loss.

You need to start keeping track of what you pay for and get a reciept from vet for the desexing and find your bank statement that shows you paid for it.
You could have the cat microchipped with your details and thats an added form of showing ownership!

I would say that since she didn't care for it , Food, litter, it became yours by default. You can go to the vet and get receipts, If you did the day to day care she lost her claim. besides you can always say she gave it to you, let her prove she didn't.
