No.
We are the country with the guts to do what has to be done - instead of whining about how 'somebody' needs to 'do something.'

1) We were in Vietnam to help protect South Vietnam, but for political reasons the war was not fought how it should have been. The US feared that a massive strike (Non-Nuclear) on North Vietnam would result in China and the USSR entering the conflict and escalating it into WW3.
2) Whats there to be ashamed of in Afghanistan? We went into that nation after the people who crashed planes into the WTC and the Pentagon. They attacked us first, we just went after the attackers.
3) Compared to the nuclear weapons that are around now the bombs dropped on Japan where nothing. Also we did it in a time of WAR. During a war your objective is to win. The USA actually caused more damage to Japanese cities by fire bombing them like Tokyo. Nuclear weapons are a last option weapon and we used them as our last option to end the war and prevent the lose of more American lives.

Nope. Also the only reason we "lost" Vietnam is because a politician made us leave. Afghanistan? what did we do wrong there were fighting the Taliban, people who would cut your hands off for being a women and using a computer. The Nuclear weapons were necessary to save hundreds of thousands of lives that would have been lost if we kept fighting with Japan..

No and by the way I am considered as liberal. I do not agree with every decision my government makes. I do not believe in any type of violence. However, I am not ashamed of my country. I can only vote for candidates who best represent my values. Things don't always go the way I hope they will, but that is reality. I do my part so I am not ashamed.

(1) Are the North Vietnamese ashamed of what they did to the Hmong, the Lao, and the Khmer after victory, let alone their own countrymen in re-education camps and in mass executions?
(2) Are the Afghans (Tajiks, Uzbeks, Pashtun) ashamed of what they did to destroy Kabul after defeating the Red Army and how the Taliban sent the region into the Dark Ages?
(3) Ask yourself how many countries have TESTED nuclear weapons since Hiroshima. The Russians? The Chinese? The British? The French? The The Pakistanis?
Ask yourself these questions and answer them before you even try to blame just the United States.
