Using sensible logic....I cannot concieve how matter came into existence from nothingness. I am not saying that God did it, but I just find it very hard to wrap around the idea that something can come out of nothing. That is why I am now converting to Christianity to see if I can find some answers.

Any thoughts?

Some things are not meant for us to understand, but those are things that are neither here nor there. That is where faith comes in, just believe that what GOD said he did, he did! We should never try to reason things out, for one thing , we will never understand, because it is not meant for us to, and another thing, the more we try to figure things out, the more confused we get, and we're not getting anywhere! Any time we have thoughts of confusion, anger, sadness, pain, fear, and so on, that kind of stuff sure doesn't come from GOD! GOD is everything good, satan is everything bad! And besides all that, the most important thing that we really need to worry about, is whether or not we are saved, and on our way to heaven! I hope that you seriously convert to Christianity, and not to get answers to questions that are not going to matter in the end, but to get answers to the ones that does! And if you are serious about this, GOD will turn your life around, and you can experience all the Love and Blessings that GOD has to offer, and most of all, THE GIFT OF SALVATION!!! GOD BLESS!!!

This is sensible logic?

step 1: I do not understand Big Bang theory
step 2: Something can not come out of nothing, but hey, maybe God was always there
step 3: I think I'll try being a Christian

You need to ask yourself that because, from where I sit, you aren't exhibiting any thoughts.

A millennium ago, you would have complained that we didn't understand the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water. Christianity had the same answer then as now but science studied the problem and discovered the true elements.

A hundred years ago, you would have complained that we didn't know how the elements were formed. Christianity had the same answer then as now but science studied the problem and discovered the structure of the atom.

A few decades ago, you would have complained that we didn't know how the particles which make up the atom were formed. Christianity had the same answer then as now but science studied the problem and discovered their quantum structure.

So, if you are content with the same explanation that the christians (and, before them, the jews) have been giving for millennia, go and join them. But don't claim it's logical.

This is wasted question for atheists and theists alike, the beginning of time is nothing to be dwelt on, you will not find a definitive answer in any faith, it is all speculation. Do I believe God is an eternal source, yes, but others believe the universe is that eternal source. Focus on more important aspects before converting not a silly paradox like the beginning of time.

Who says that God has to come from somewhere? Do you feel that he needs to come from somewhere, just because everyone else has came from somewhere? How do you know God didn't create himself? What if something did create God, such as the universe itself? We all only know what we have learned since we were born. All the knowledge we have gained is through teachings from other human beings, who themselves were taught from other human beings, and so on. Just because you can't answer the question above, does not mean that you shouldn't believe in God. Your belief in God should be based upon you own internal Faith. Think about where you have been and where you are going, Look at life itself. Look at how we are able to communicate with each other, we have the intelligence to invents many things for our survival, neccesities, and even our personal leisure. We have made a whole society and have set guidelines of humanity over all the years of human existance. Something, you should tell yourself, when you actually step back and look at life for what it is, should be that there has to be someone behind all this. An Orchestrator, that has designed all human beings/minds and gave them an intial thought. Therefore the humans are instilled with an initial brain from someone "God", and that brain grows on its own, based on the decisions we make an life. I feel we choose who we want to be, but at the same time, life itself, has a role in who we are as well. The environment someone grows up in can easily shape a person's personality, which can sort of dictate the choices they make in life. It also depends on what that person chooses to accept. Rules in life are set by humans based upon belief and convictions. We choose to follow those rules. We really do not have to, but we have set restrictions and consequences on ourselves, in order to have some type of control. Why did God create us? Who knows why, but that is not a reason to not believe in him. We have not learned the answer. You don't know what you don't know. I believe that God just Creates us and lets us take it from there. We figure out life on its own and we teach others what we believe is the right way. We use our heart to determine many things because that is what we feel. I guess to answer your question. It doesn't matter if God Created himself, of if something Created God, the bottom line is that if you believe he does exist based on Life itself, then you should follow what you feel. It's okay to ask questions, but you shouldn't just give up on your beliefs and convictions based upon a "logical question" that you have no answer to. Maybe you will find that answer from the Creator himself. I am a Christian and I believe in God, so I choose to follow him. As you can see I didn't quote the bible or anything. I just observed his Creation and feel that there has to be someone behind all of this.

As far as all the evil in the world, we as humans have done that to ourselves. We cannot blame God. We have a mind of our own.......... I cannot directly answer your question directly. I don't think any human being can. Again, maybe you will find out from God himself. Follow your heart and make your decision based off of that I hope you choose to believe.......

Good grief! You expect Christians will offer you anything besides dogma, guilt and hackneyed lines from the bible?

Get a grip. Nobody said it came out of nothing. For all we know, the universe has always existed. Or, maybe it only exists because there are intelligent observers here to observe it.

That stance makes absolutely no sense to me. You think one system doesn't explain things, so you convert to another and decide to search it for answers. By all means, look anywhere you want for truth, but it seems inane to me to convert to something first and search later. You don't have to be a Christian to learn about Christianity. If something resonates, I don't think any reasonable person would try to stop you from converting then. To me it's like voting for someone and then looking into their platform afterwards.

A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing, get some more knowledge before you give up thinking and say God is the answer to everything, that's a dead end and is no explanation at all...where did God come from?

The origins I can't explain but you won't find answers in Christianity because it really does come down to blind faith that you aren't an accident. I don't think anyone can answer this question correctly nor really will they ever be able to and the sad part is it's probably something really simple like we are spilled hamburger grease on some dudes' linoleum.

There are many questions that have no answer. That is one reason I believe as well. But religion will not answer these questions. The Bible says that God created the heavens and the Earth. It never says how or why. That is where faith steps in and you take it at face value.
