Just because your friend has brain cancer does not mean that he is going to die. Much will depend on the type of brain tumor that he has and the response to treatment. Don't give up on him so fast!!! I know kids with cancer and some of them have brain tumors and are doing just fine.

The best thing that you can do now is to be his friend. Don't treat him any differently than you ever did. Try to go and have fun with him. Believe me he'll appreciate being treated as normally as possible. He's ill and needs some slack, but you'll find out that he's still the same kid he always was. Go play video games with him, go places that he can go when he feels like it, just be his friend. It will do you both good.

Good luck.

I am sorry to hear that TJ, I hope you, your family and friends are able to handle this situation emotionally and physically because its very stressful. I lost my dad to cancer when I was still young and its difficult. The best thing to do is always be there for him, dont overdue it though. If he is still living his day to day routine, just make sure he is not stressed out and help him do things. Take him to do things he loves to do, maybe buy him a new video game. If he is in bedrest just cater to him, maybe bake him some cookies or cupcakes. Also if he is in the hospital maybe you can miss 1 day of school and stay with him to remind him that he is more important than anything else.

Firstly it doesn't sound like you know he is dying. So don't assume that is the case. Many, many cases of brain cancer are treated and cured annually. Ask him about his case. His answer may surprise you!

As for how to treat him: Treat him like your friend. Like you always have. Be a little more aware of handwashing and not getting to close if you are sick. As his immune system will not be very strong while he is undergoing treatment. You might offer to make sure he gets all of his homework on the days he misses from school and offer to turn it in for him.

Good gifts are things to do. Books, games, movies, etc....

Anyone who would give a "smart answer" on this comment doesn't deserve to be on the net anyway. I would say that you should just do the things that he likes to do, like, say he's in to games. Go to the arcade with him or something. Hang at places he likes rather than giving everyone who's there a choice. Overall, just be a good friend, as friend are the most important thing in life at this age.

Please get an actual prediction [ prognosis ] from a family member. Brain cancer is not always fatal; it depends on the type of tumor, where it is in the brain, and how large the growth is.
Is he going to have surgery? Chemo? Radiation? I have had all of them, so write us again when you find out more.
Two things will help you and your friend the most:
1] faith in God
2] sense of humor
If it does not go well, keep having fun with your friend, and treat him like you always have.

One of the best things you can do is treat Justin just like you did before he was sick. He will want to try to keep his life as normal as possible. You can help some by not changing how you act with him.

it isn't any longer straightforward, yet no longer unusual the two. once you reside via a trauma like dropping a particular pal or family contributors member, there are quite a few levels of restoration. marvel, denial, soreness, grief, anger are basically some and that they now and returned circulate in that order. for my area, anyone handles issues like this in a distinctive way and there is no "regular". What could be suited for somebody else answering this question, could no longer be suited for you. or you may desire to nonetheless be in marvel or denial and have not reached the different levels like soreness and grief yet. beware, it may desire to hit you like a freight practice and look overwhelming while it does. if so, locate somebody to proportion your emotions with. i be attentive to, as quickly as I lost my perfect pal in severe college in a motor vehicle crash - i replaced into in denial for 2 days - then as quickly as I decrease back to college and her chair replaced into empty in homeroom... it hit me like a Mack truck.
