yeah, that is pretty presumptuous to think that by simply restating what you believe others will automatically believe it too. I mean it kind of makes you think that THEY don't know enough about their own religion to say anything but "that's what the Bible teaches" or "that's what Jesus' said" And then they get mad if you still don't believe them (especially in the U.S.) and want to change the subject. And if you bring up a point contradicting what they say and they have no good answer they will get mad and want to change the subject. I mean, I thought that one of the principles of being a Christian was to try and convert others by teaching them. Then why get mad when someone is trying to have a serious conversation about God? sorry....had to get that rant off my chest....ahhhh.....feel better.

Not everyone uses those phrases. I think they sincerely think that makes sense to a nonbeliever....they just don't realize they (Chrisitians in general) speak a certain lingo with each other that doesn't translate to others very well. I try to not use popular (among Christians) phrases for that reason. I've even been questioned why I would say God bless you at the end of my post; and that phrase is used by everyone when someone sneezes. A lot of us get into this other language and are just around Christians more than others, so we take it for granted everyone knows our meanings, but that isn't so and we need to be conscious of the way we communicate with others. It's sort of like the text message codes the kids use today. Us older folks can't always know exactly what they're saying and have to have it explained. Those particular phrases you quote are not common to me and my circle of Christian friends, but I'm sure we use some others too often. Thanks for bringing it up. I know there are some others that use phrases I don't exactly know what they mean, but I generally get the jest of the meaning by reading the context. All in all, Christians are just like everyone else and may not realize the effect of what and how they say something. They really may not be trying to change anyone, but just state a personal belief. I hope the question you've posted will help us all be more sensitive to how we post what we are trying to communicate. Good question. How about a star for that one?

Muslims believe that Jesus will return with the Mahdi and will be second in command to the Mahdi. They believe that the Mahdi will bring true peace to the world and that the whole world will become Muslim. People will only change once they accept Jesus and have the Holy Spirit in them to help them change, and speaking as a sinner saved by grace, even then it is hard to change and takes years to accomplish. It does not happen overnight. My first reaction to someone telling me that Jesus died for me was, I didn't ask Him to so its not my fault. I was angry because such love demands a response from me, and that kind of love is very hard for some people to accept. I know it was for me.

In all kindness to the person who answered you, religion (which means attaining favor with God) will use manipulation, but true Christianity is a relationship between the person and Christ.
And yes, the Bible is the Word of God. I've been in a place where I didn't understand that either before, so I can totally, totally understand your question. You may want to start reading the book of John in the New Testament. Christ did die for our sins because He loves us. In all politeness, no other god has done that.....
I will never push anyone into conversion, we have to allow God to do that.....
May God guide you as you seek answers....

we don't say (pbuh). what, are you spitting? if you don't want to be offensive, just say Jesus or Jesus Christ, not (pbuh).
to answer your question, it is because that is their mentality. most Christian groups, to my knowledge, believe in mindsets: a constant thought trend that occurs and can be broken by the changing of the mind, the adopting of a different ideology, the understanding of a truth. you with me? okay, so they are under the mentality that most non-Christians are agnostic-like, in that they do not worship God but atleast adhere to His instructions, as we believe Jesus was Lord God and not just a prophet.
most religious people don't ask "why?" that often. I'm sure you would not question Allah. for them, "God said so" is a good enough reason to do it, as God is omniscient and therefore knows more than you do, so He's gotta be right.
does that answer your question?

For Christians, the Bible and the Word of Jesus is enough. No, I don't think anyone telling you that will change your mind about anything, unless you read it for yourself. There are many people who don't believe and talk against religion that have never studied it and pass it off as legend and lore. Personally, I don't see how anyone who has studied the Bible and read unbiased the many prophsies fulfilled by Jesus and not believe. He was a real person, and more and more there is proof of his historical identity and works. Just do a little studying and read up on him.

They say those things because they care about you. Not all Christians are eloquent, in fact the Bible says not many wise . . . mighty or noble are called but God has chosen the foolish . . . to confound the wise . . . the weak . . . the base . . . the things which are despised . . that no flesh should glory in His presence (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).
P. S. You'd be happier if you were a Christian.

Because they actually think that Jesus saved mankind and that the Bible is the word of God. I can counter both.
- Jesus didn't sacrifice himself for the sins of mankind. He was sentenced to die for blasphemy. The roman emperor let the people chose- Barabbas or Jesus. One of them would be set free, and the other would be crucified. And guess who they chose. Jesus. Do you think Jesus would have sacrificed himself if the people chose Barabbas to die?
- If the bible is the word of God, why are there so many versions? I would think that God only made one version of the bible.

Our doctrine and our faith are intertwined with the Bible.
A Christian without a Bible is inconceivable.
Are not Muslims the same with the Koran, c'mon. Exactly the same.

Jesus put it this way:
Matthew 23:2-4
"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
