I started running and quit snacking during the day, unless it is healthy.

You've got a good 'external motivation' so just keep up your new routine and gain a sense of centreness from it. Keep your eating simple and satisfying with lots of whole grains. Let the strength and energy you gain from the healthy whole foods you're eating inspire you to keep up the running, and vice versa. Keep making small adjustments as you run into them. That said, you're looking at a lot of weight to lose: I'd say a pound a week is a very successful regime, and that would give you about 12 lbs. by mid-August. If I were you I would set an achieveable goal like 12 lbs. and make sure you do at least that. Then by monitoring your weight every two weeks you can get a sense of how much beyond a pound a week you can push it. But it's got to be fun and healthy regime or you'll lose the thread. Go for it!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

good motives you have there. However i have a stress free alternative or other idea. Eat one meal a day(as fat free as possible) and eat fruits eg watermelons pineapples, apples, bananas and oranges for your other two meals and you can have them as midnight snacks as well. I did that and i went from a size 16 to14 after a month then to a size 12 after two months! Try dancing real fast also.Walk around as much as possible
