my dad's just found to have a temperature of 103 F.my uncle says he was shivering in the sunlight,and we live in florida where it's hot as hell now!and apparently his tongue has turned white and he complained it hurts.what is this?need answers immidiently if it's serious.

also,my dad had a cyst on his tailbone,or above it.it just popped.could it be poisioning or something??

my dad has been taking antibiodics for the past week atleast,and mom put him in a fairly cold bath.apparently it was 103.6 F,and it's gone down .6 degrees,which she says is good,and insists he is fine.

The body creates fever to raise the internal temperature so high that bacteria can't survive. It's a natural defense.
Health care professionals generally consider 105 F to be alarming - I'm not 100% positive but I believe the temp brain damage occurs at is 106 F.
If it goes over 104 F put him in a tub of lukewarm (not cold) water for 20 minutes.
Dehydration is a major concern so keep him drinking clear fluids.
If you wish to reduce the fever, Tylenol will do that; just don't use Tylenol if he has liver concerns or is a frequent drinker.
Keep taking his temp every 2 hours to monitor. A sharp spike means it's time for the hospital.

UPDATE: popped cyst will mean he need antibiotics in the very least. time for the doctor ASAP.

He has a fever and needs to be seen by a dr. He probably has an infection that needs to be treated. DO not delay.
