Swimming is one of the best exercises For back pain. Former President Kennedy had serious back problems and he swam every day to keep mobile and reduce the pain.

another good program is Yoga. These gentle stretches can really help reduce back pain. You would have to find a class in your area.

It depends on what is causing your back pain. There's no generic exercise that fit's all causes for back pain.

If it's just muscle soreness, massage and a hot soak or pad will do wonders.

If it's a disc, you can sometimes stand and bend backwards as far as you can.

Stay gently mobile and use ice on the painful area. You should see your doctor or someone like a chiropractor before attempting any kind of exercises whilst experiencing pain, as they can advise on how to do this without further aggravating the injury.

get the book "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue. Read it and do the routine that best descibes your pain
