That would be a good idea (just in case). Things appear to be coming apart (slowly but surely) at the business you work for. I would recommend looking for other work, just to be on the safe side.

A lot of people might disagree, but I much rather have a low paying job that I like than a high paying job that I don't, because you're right. What if you don't like the higher paying job? Yes, it is terrible that you have to work for minimum wage, but then again there are ways to make extra money on the side to supplement the income. A job you like, you'll be likely to stay for a long time and over the years, you'll be likely to get raises and promotions, and also, if down the line you are able to find the higher paying support you love, then you'll be able to have quite an impressive job resume where the last thing your employer will think of you as a "job hopper".

Hell yeah...I'd have one lined up just in case. I was TOTALLLLLLLLY screwed because my Xboss kept telling me everything was fine. Then I got laid off, couldn't find another job for 8 months...got pregnant in the meantime and then when I finally DID find another job I didn't qualify for Maternity leave. It's been like 2 years and I'm still just totally f#@!*ed from that job! Better safe than sorry is what I'm sayin'.

Definantly look for another job, just play it cool and don't let her know until you have a for sure job. I think this lady doesn't want to scare you into leaving her too, but she's probably just thinkin' about herself and leave you with nothing. Take her comment seriously about the business closing.

Yes. I'd start testing the waters right now and see what's out there that you qualify for. Your first concern should be YOU. When you find something else, give the woman a two week notice so she can find someone else.

I think you probably should. You can't depend on her assurances unfortunately. You don't want to be left in a rut with no where to turn. Good luck.

I would look for something that is more stable, but keep your job in the meantime.
