Religion are not doing anything to harm anyone. All that religion is doing is teaching to love one another. Isn't that what life should be all about. Not to just live and rot eternally. There should be a paradise when we die. If God has set it out like that, let it be. Atheist, you don't have enough power to bring down heaven nor the hell. You haven't prayed to god to know the outcome of his power. So please just let religion be. Don't spam someones post just because they are asking "when will Jesus return" or "If I pray for my grandma will she get better". At least just lie and say yea she will get better, don't be like "According to science the disease will kill her horribly, and she will rot for the sea sponges to feast on her corpse."

The thing about atheist is that they need a sure thing. If they cannot see it , observe it or test it, it doesn't exist. Religion is not bad, it is how people interpret it. If we were all atheist, there would be no point to live. If you were an atheist, why would you even get up in the morning. Life is not worth living if there is no God. If the atheist are right, we are just worthless meatbags who's lives don't matter at all. Everything was just random, the way we are, our morality, our kindness, our love, and etc. The real problem isn't religion, the problem is the people. Gahndi said" I like your Christ, but you Christians act nothing like him."

Many atheists claim that either
A.
The country is very close to a theocracy and they need to bring them down...sure having the word God in a few places certainly defines this country as a theocracy, go to Iran then tell me if you think the United States is a theocracy
B.
They believe less religion would end violence.... funny there is no credible long term evidence for that claim, Post French Revolution France, any communist nation, and Albania about a decade ago, go against that.
C.
They see Scandinavia and other wealthy European countries and look at the standard of living and then claim it is religion's love of the poor which keeps America from becoming Sweden....Trying to compare America with a much smaller, and vastly culturally diff rent country like Sweden is not possible. Sweden has been rich for many years even before secularization, this is due to the fact that Sweden and many Northern European countries have not played a major part in a large war in centuries (No, Norway being conquered in 2 months by the Axis does not count), whereas the United States has. Also is bringing down the poor really seem moral, especially to those who work hard yet just had bad luck in where they were born.
D.
Religion stops science... Mendel, Galileo, Pasteur, Frankz, even the founder of the human genome projects were Christian, in the Middle Ages this was true, but the Catholic Church has done a 180 degree turn, and is know quite open-minded on many scientific theories (evolution, big bang etc.) Most likely other denominations will do the same.
E.
Relgious are brainwashed fanatics.... Some are, but the brainwashing is not limited to religion, every organization that tries to control people uses it the government, media, and yes religion. You have been brainwashed by many things other than religion in your life, and being brainwashed to do good is not the worst thing in my opinion, then say being brainwashed to report your own parents to the police (commonly done in Soviet Russia, and Nazi Germany).

These are the main reasons why atheists attempt to bring down religious beliefs, that being said, religions need to stop their hard-core evangelizing because it is much more annoying then atheists attempts to "convert."

> Religion are not doing anything to harm anyone.

Tell that to your gay neighbor who cannot marry because religious people think he shouldn't be able to marry the person he loves.

> All that religion is doing is teaching to love one another.

Tell that to the Westboro Baptist Church, Pat Robertson, and every other religious person who has ever worked toward stealing civil rights from their gay neighbors.

> Isn't that what life should be all about. Not to just live and rot eternally.

Atheists cherish life all the more because they believe this life is the only one we get. They don't treat life as a dress rehearsal. To atheists, every moment is precious.

> There should be a paradise when we die.

"Should be" does not equal "is."

> At least just lie and say yea she will get better...

Some people prefer to always know the truth.

You need to understand that the Bible and any person of faith, just by existance alone, points a proverbial finger at the wrongs the people are contributing to, or involved with.
The darkness does not like a light shown on it. A person does not want their sins to shine in a light of truth. So, the Bible and faith in general, makes them extremely uncomfortable. This is mainly because in their little minds, they know the things they do are wrong.
What you don't see is that without doing a thing, they feel the burden of the truth, and the truth is a knife that cuts both ways.
The world at this time is fighting miserably to make sure that everybody has to say that being gay is just fine and dandy. They are even trying to push laws thru that say if you SAY being gay is wrong, it will be a crime punishable by jail time. Check out Bill HR1592. Today, if you say "family values", or "natural family" during work in a private conversation and someone hears you, you will lose your job, all benefits, and your retirement. Thats law as of a month ago in the good ol USA. Why? Because you are shining that glaring truth light again, and they cannot bear it. It cuts them to the quick.
This is why when Christ returns, he will
use the truth to tear down the enemies of God. Because thats what hurts, and thats also what heals.
We are losing our freedom of speech because that light hurts them so much.
We are losing our freedom of religion because that light hurts them so much.

Its okay, God is in control, and this is all part of His plan - nobody is getting away with anything that God isn't allowing them.
For now. And then when everyone shows their truest colors, He will return carrying that big rod of iron. I assume you can figure out what thats gonna be for.............
Things will get straightened out, I assure you.

Hooold on a minute. Religion is doing a little more than teaching love and tolerance.

Religion...
1) Divides people.
2) Causes people to focus more on an afterlife than this life.
3) Teaches people that believing in something that doesn't have any evidence is somehow a good thing.
4) Creates an "us vs. them" attitude.
5) Stops scientific progress.
6) Tries to interfere with public education.
7) Is the reason why certain people, like homosexuals, don't have certain rights.

I could go on and on and on. If you honestly don't see the negative side of religion, you're either not looking hard enough... or you're not looking at all.

I'm afraid that according to science the disease will kill your Grandma horribly, and she will rot for the sea sponges to feast on her corpse most likely. Be nice to her while she is around.

Look at the side of the Atheists that might help you open your eyes to reality from the truth. I am not saying that religion is false neither there is no God. I am a believer but I have to make reconciliation between blind belief and the truth about God in His relation to science. Atheists never had me confused instead it even strengthened my faith. God gave us the whole world and the knowledge to its components for our learning, understanding and use. Many things that religion considered miracles are now technologies that we had understood and technologies that we can use for human advancements. God is opening up the truth about His being God of the past, of the present and of the future. He is not a static being but dynamic becoming. What the Atheist does not understand is for us to fuse our faith with them. What the Atheist have discovered is what God has put in man's mind so we will recognize that His creation did not stop on the 6th day but given to His people, His creations continue to work in cycle through man spiralling up to reach the highest peak of human consciousness.

i'm examining that as "why are atheists interior the R&S section?" and taking a drink. There are fairly atheistic religions and non secular ideals. Google Buddhism and Jainism. i'm right here to respond to questions approximately a kind of religions which I even have studied and to respond to this question over and over returned. Edit- asserting "evolution is a faith" is as ignorant as asserting "gravity is a faith". Do your self a choose and take a technology type the place they'd tutor you what the term scientific concept means. you are able to even have an interest to appreciate that maximum human beings of Christians understand and settle for the belief of Evolution.

I've wondered about this myself.
They do get vicous sometimes, don't they? Oh, I know they don't all do it, but some of them do, and some of them get downright cruel, as you have evidently seen. When someone gets that vicious, there can only be one reason.
The feel, somehow, threatened.
How, then, does love threaten anyone? I really can't figure that out...but Jesus left us a clue, anyhow.

Joh 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

I guess that about sums it up, don't you think? They don't like the Light shining on them, because they know what that Light will reveal...

So you would rather hear lies and have things sugar coated rather than face reality. I'm sorry but I cant do that.

No power needed to bring down heaven and hell because neither exist.

Your religion does cause harm in many ways. It affects people generally through government law and such. It also holds back progress.

As for "Love",from what I have seen it teaches mainly hate.
