I agree with pastrbuzz...there are several people in the pueblo that my wife is from that still do not speak Spanish

She was a "mestizo", mix between Spanish and Indian... just as are 80% of the country. Mestizo is not really the term to use anymore because that was in reference to babies that had either Spaniard/Indian Father/Mother... such as a 1/2 Indian and 1/12 Spaniard baby... we've been breeded and breeded with other mestizos thru generations and generations to the point where it's just referred to as Mexicans and not Mexican Indians... hope this helps...

There is no such thing.

A Mexican is a mix of Spanish and Indian, if you add more Indian you are still a Mexican. Common sense...

When the spanish arrived to Mexico, they thought that it was India not a new continent thats why native mexican people are call "Indian". But I think she was what most of mexican are "Mestizos". Which nowadays is a mix of everything, irish, italians, spanish, even arab people like from Lebanon and even jewis people too.

I kinda concur with the answer above mine, except that maybe she was100% Indian?!?!? Three are still quite a few Mexicans of exclusive (or almost exclusive) Indian descent with little or no Spaniard blood. They may have a very little Spaniard blood in ancestry, but are cultural Indians.

i'm assuming it meant she was an indigenous person of MEXICO, rather than an Indian from the US, or south america, etc...

mexican simply means someone born in mexico. it's a nationality, not a race of people.
