In Buddhism life and all physical entities have a life cycle. The idea of reincarnation can be thought of in scientific terms as when you die your atoms become part of another life. So your atoms become part of the tree, grass, or whatever entity that may consume you, but you do not stop existing since you become part of that physical entity. When the sun burns out, life may stop existing on Earth, but eventually when the universe implodes on itself or Earth becomes consumed by another star, it will bring new life as it did before by giving birth to new planets, stars, and hopefully another Earth like planet and so in a way a person will never cease his or her existance.

My opinion is simply that the sun that we know will be replaced and even if its not I believe that mankind will destroy itself with war and hate long before the sun burns out. As for reincarnation I strongly believe in it and not in a Heaven or a Hell. Never thought about what would happen if the world comes to an end I just know that I'll come back and be able to watch over and protect my children after Im gone

This is not the only world we can incarnate upon. If the Earth was destroyed tomorrow, there would still be places to reincarnate.
But one day it will all end (the Night of Brahma) and we will all return to God (aka the Divine, Nirvana, etc, etc.) All the little drops of humanity would return to the vast ocean from which we all came.

We believe that it's logical that life can exist elsewhere, maybe not in the way YOU might imagine it, but it does, so we believe that when a planet is dying where sentient beings are, you take rebirth on another planet, or world which isn't dying. So when this planet starts to piddle out, people will start taking rebirths elsewhere.
Not my opinion, this is what I was taught by my teacher, but through analytical examination of the Buddha's teachings, and the world around us, it makes good logical sense to me too.

NO REINCARNATION!
Because there will be n reincarnation for Earth/Sun nor the Solar system.
But IMMORTALITY can be achieved scientifically if we as a species can somehow guarantee our own survival even after the Sun burns out!

3 billion years is practically forever. I figure we can figure out everything we're possible of doing and have some free time before we hit that deadline.
