Has anyone ever heard of "post-polio syndrome"?

I had polio as a child, (I was 5 years old before I could walk. I'm 52 now) and now I feel like it is returning. At times I can barely walk. My doctor say once you get over polio it's over. I had my hips x-rayed and the cartalage is wearing away.

Yes we have a local Post Polio syndrome group here. As such the Polio does not come back, but the symptoms do, hence it being a 'syndrome', rather than a disease.
