Hi, ive got a 37" hd tv, i have been looking at the dvd players with hd upscaling for about $100. I have also seen fast and the furious on hd dvd. I wanted to know if the upscaling hd dvd players are worth the money, will there be a big difference in quality? also what connectors is it likely to come with? hdmi or composite?
Thanks

True HDTV provides exceptional quality.

For your question HDMI - from a technical standpoint - provides the very best picture but just looking at the picture with your eyes you probably will NOT be able to tell the difference between HDMI and composite video.

A DVD player WILL come with a composite output, most but not all will also have an HDMI output.

I suggest you go to a Best Buy or Circuit City or the electronics section of a major department store and look at what they have to offer including viewing the picture from a regular DVD and an HD DVD also think about Blu Ray DVD players as a lot of High Definition DVD are coming out in that format.

I have a first generation HD DVD player (RCA DV5000) hooked to a 42" Viewsonic LCD tv via HDMI (my tv has 3 hdmi btw, love that) and the picture on both HD DVD's and old, upconverted dvd's is perfect. I see a huge difference in mine. I used to have a pregressive scan dvd player and went to this...night and day. I got mine off ebay, brand new, for $147 shipped. Just remember if you get an older model to update the firmware, and that your hd tv was made after 2005 so you don't have HDMI errors due to HDCP.

Upconverting DVD players are the 2nd best when going to the real thing. Yes you will see a huge difference, it only upconverts through HDMI.

Toshiba makes some good upconverting dvd players.

In my show room we use the toshiba dvd players to sell and to demo, showing our customers the difference between the 2 resolutions.
