Why are guys SO immature?

I'm a freshman in high school and it seems the most immature guys ever are the class of 2008 (the juniors). they are SIXTEEN/SEVENTEEN. i mean i know guys are immature in freshman year and stuff [actually ..they really arent]. i would think they would have grown out of it by now. the bad part is i like a junior guy who hangs out with his friends afterschool and STILL makes stupid p*nis jokes, fart noises, and he basically thinks he is the effing sh*t. and he's not. whyyyyy

Maturity is not a smooth line. Boys will mature at a faster rate at one period and girls at another. Also guys are guys and respond differently to some different stimuli than girls. Jokes tied to bodily functions are a rough way to deal with these functions. "Farting" is something that is perfectly normal and we all do it from time to time (some more than others due to diet and intestinal envronment) but is usually avoided when possible in society due to smell and general unpopularity. So by making a joke of "farting" it neutralizes some of the negativity surrounding this natural, but somewhat offensive act. Also, guys worry about their penis' like girls worry about their breasts because let's be real, sexuality is a major player in our lives. If he keeps on and on and on about it, I would look for someone who is more knowledgable and comfortable with their body.
My suggestion is not to worry too much at this age. Now if your college aged guy is still making fart and penile jokes, I would suggest looking for someone you perceive to be on your maturity level.
Believe it or not, many of us males don't make fart jokes - even in high school.

I'm a junior and i don't think that any of the guys in my class are immature, actually i think that the freshman are more stupid and immature.... guys are guys and the make penis jokes and fart noises and do a whole bunch of other crap but learn to live with it cause it'll never go away, they never grow out of it!!

i dont know. my graduating class (2004) was reletively mature. we had our select few who are STILL living in the past, but for the most part, everyone was ready to go out and face the world. i will admit, a well timed fart joke can be highlarious, but when it is done over and over thats annoying. now, i have noticed since then, the general maturity level seems to have gone down. when im out doing my shopping on weekends, on the way to the store, there are at least three sixteen year old guys in their "souped up" cars that try to race me, reving their engines, thinking that their exhaust tip makes them faster. then later they spend a good hour and a half cracking stupid jokes and blaring bad music in the parking lot at walmart. no one did that when i was in school. now the cool thing is to hang out in the walmart parking lot? wtf....i dont get it, i think it may have to do with the fact that more and more movies are coming out with fart jokes, and so on and so forth. media and things have made so much information available to the public that lots of kids are learning about things they shouldnt know about until they are much older. idk, im sure there is more to it than that, parents probably are getting looser and looser with the rules......all sorts of stuff could be a factor, but i definatly know what you mean.

Trust me, they don't grow out of it. My fiance is 39 and he STILL finds fart jokes funny. Hell, even I do and I'm a 26-year-old woman!

Boys will be boys. Even the most mature men will still have their immature moments. And on the other side of the coin, girls can be just as gross and immature as guys. Gender has no boundaries on the penis jokes, fart jokes, belching, scratching, or other crude toilet humor.

Lighten up a little and have fun. A well-timed belch can be downright hysterical.

Oh gosh...they are only 16-17. Wait until they are 30, some of them are still acting the same way they did back then they were in highschool.

No reason, they are just immature by nature. Some are just not willing to grow up.

Guys act immature because they can. There is no reason not too, after all it's more fun than acting mature. So what if some girls don't like it, there are plenty that don't care and just want to be with you. To be honest, it doesn't matter what you think. You don't get to decided what we do or do not...you don't' matter.

i dont know why they are so immature. but i understand you. im a sophomore and boys in my grade are SOO immature. i get so frustrated. i try not to lose my patience. guys usually do that so people think theyre cool or the ****. sometimes if they are part of the football team they want to be all hard and ****. or like if they dont do something their friends dont like their scared the other IMMATURE boys will be like "ohh ur so soft" "ur such a pussy" "dont chicken out"... its just a guy thing i dont understnad why!

i dunno, im 14 and the guys in my classe r soo imaatture and if u tell them close the wondow they'll close it and repoenit just to piss u off, and make jokes about other guys being gay and doinging from behind. i mean they've had 14 yrs to grow up and get all these imature jokes out of there system. it pisses me off how imature they r. i feal bad for you. i guess were in the same boat, well just ahve 2 deal with it.

It's high school................have fun and become serious about life once you have one............be a kid for as long as you can and stop being such an abnoxious b*tch!!!

Chica Im in my third year of college and guys my age are STILL immature thats why I date guys in their late twenties and up. I dont have time for bs.I dont know why, its a mindset I guess.
