I just learned about it this weekend actually.
I read a book called "Inside the Kingdom" by Carmen Bin Laden.
Highly recommend it.
Apparently Muhammed Ibn Abdul Wahhab came to what is now called Saudi Arabia. He discovered the Muslims there had sort of tacked on what he viewed as pagan habits to their faith. So he decided to clean things up. In a manner of speaking.
A sort of return to the fundamentals of the faith.
It is where the Sharia comes from. The Islamic law. When the Sudan adopted the Sharia they becan the systematic extermination of all Christians and liberal Muslims.
Convert or die. Today's ethnic and religious cleansing in Darfur for instance.

Yes, they are VERY misguided and go against the very teachings of Islam. It irritates me very much, their teachings are not backed up or supported by the Quran. In fact, their teaching go against the very simple advisories of the Quran.
They also tell people that they can't read the Quran, only certain people with knowledge can. I'm struggling with how to deal with them, I know a few Sahabas (the mvt formed out of Wahhabi's) and I have to work at not hating them.
They reject Allah signs, music is one of the greatest gifts Allah has given to mankind. It is so powerful that Allah revealed it with David's revelation to call people to faith and the Trumpet allegory is used to described the sound sounded on the Last Day.
They are astray more than cattle- Quran

Yep.
Most of them are in Saudi Arabia.
They scare the sh*t out of me. They are very angry... all the time.
Once in Saudi Arabia (I heard this news when I was in 11th grade)... when an all girls school was on fire... wahabbis didn't let the fire fighters to go into the building... bcz the girls might have been without hijab!!!!!!!
