OMG PLEASE DON'T DO IT!
I had one done when I was a teenager - and aside from the fact that it STINKS like you wouldn't believe, I walked out looking like Tina Turner having just stuck her fingers into an electric outlet.
If you want curls or something, just get a curling iron.

ok, I had long, straight, very fine hair, and it took forever to dry and manage, so I got a perm. Instead of the normal tight and curly perm, I went for a spiral perm, which has the rollers go vertically, making loose waves. I absolutely LOVE my hair - it's easy to manage, I just use some mousse and that's it. You just have to make sure your hair is healthy before you get it done. But I would say get it professionally done, DON'T do it at home!

I once did the mistake of having a perm (although it was ages ago), and I could not wait for my hair to grow out of it! Half straight half curly (which is what it'll be in a couple of months) is not a good look by any standards. Plus it completely ruined my hair texture making it brittle and dry. It does give your hair extra volume if that's what you're after. Personally, I would never do it again. But then that's just me.

Oh my god a perm is so 1980s.. and I know retro is cool but where hair is concerned it's a no no! The chemicals will strip the moisture from your hair and damage it permanently! there are some great curl boosting products on the market at the moment.. or try using a heat protecting spray and some tongs, or rollers. Another age old method that works great is using putting your hair in rag rolls, and using a good volumising/curl boosting mousse. Don't do it!!!

Do not get a home perm! Perms are tricky to do.....There is sooo much that can go wrong....spend the cash, get a consultation with a pro to assess whether your hair can get a prem or not, and then do what the stylist tells you is the best.

If someone is going to chemically treat your hair, make sure they know what they're doing! It will damage your hair either way but if someone who doesn't know what they're doing, your hair could just break off. It also depends on why you are getting it. If your hair is curly and you want control, go for it. I used to get relaxers and it just made my hair fall out and off. Perm is the way to go to get control.
Hope this will help a little.

It depends on what type of hair you have to begin with... If it will help with your hair styling desires than get it... but remember that it's chemical and practically irreversible... I am an African American and I love my perm because it keeps my hair straight and that how I wear it... But you know sometimes I wanna do a curly thing and I have to set it with curlers. If this will keep you from having to set your hair, DO IT!!! O I wouldn't get it done at home either because that can be dangerous. Any chemical thing should be done by a proffesional

I always had a home perm done when I was a teenager. But I hit 21 and developed my own curls which I HATE. Sick of having to use straighteners everyday. If your hair is in good condition I would just leave it.

There are loads of less permanant ways of creating more controlled curls i.e tongs or even straightners. With a perm you get a certain permanant curl. With Tongs you can have curls when you want and how curly or just wavy you want.My advice:Don't ask for one, there are many alternatives to try.

you're able to do the two. yet purely make specific you employ a mild perm and according to danger it will be terrific to not do it on an identical day. according to danger dye it first then supply it hydration and scientific look after 2 days and then perm it.
