Nope. And depending on how long you've been in you may have to pay any bonus you got back! My exhusband got a general discharge and ended up owing the government over $4,000 and was no longer eligible for any of his VA benefits. The only way you keep those is if it's an honorable or medical discharge.

No. Part of the consequences of a Dishonorable or Bad Conduct Discharge from the military is that you forfeit all pay and benefits -- including any you may otherwise have had coming through the VA.

If you served your first 3 to 4 years honorably and was discharged--either by getting out and coming back in or by reenlisting--AND your discharge is General under other than honorable (which some people confuse with "dishonorable") or better you can qualify for some benefits.

If it is indeed dishonorable or bad conduct and you don't merit it being revised up via a board, you are essentially screwed.

nope, I got a Other Then Honorable. I asked to be let out, and they sign this, but I was not going to leave my wife and daughter 6 months every year for 4 years. Did have to pay back the re-enlistment money though

It has been a very long time since my service, but I thought that when a person gets a dishonorable discharge from the military, they forfeit all pay and benefits.

No, a DD will lose you all benefits. When a dishonorable discharge is issued, all pay benefits, and allowances, and all medals and honors are revoked as well.

No, thats called justice...if you were dishonorably discharged you embarrased our country while on duty and dont deserve pay or benefits for doing so. It would be a disservice to U.S citizens to use their tax money to pay people that embarrased the country as a whole.

What did you (or whoever you're talking about) do?

Nope. You have to f up pretty bad for that. You aren't fit to receive those benefits.
