I'm a 17-year-old girl, 5'6, 141 pounds. I've recently lost 40 pounds and want to lose about 15 more. The thing is .. some weird things have been happening lately. I am always cold, my hair is really dry and falling out more than usual, I'm lightheaded and sometimes dizzy, and sometimes my heart feels weird. I exercise everyday and eat about 1000-1200 calories a day. Do you know why all this is happening? Any suggestions for what I should do? I don't THINK I'm underweight ... and I really would like to lose more. What do you all think?

It may be that you are not taking in the essential vitamins and nutrients that you are supposed to be eating. It also may be that you need to take in more calories since you are still a teenager and still growing. In either case, you need to go see your doctor. You did not mention whether you are working out or if you are taking any kind of a weight loss supplement. If you are working out, then you probably need to take in more calories and also start taking something like a vitamin supplement or the work out regimen may be too rigid for you. If you are taking any kind of a weight loss supplement you need to quit taking it immediately. Ask your doctor if you are healthy for your height and body type. And remember that just because you are not rail thin does not mean that you are not malnourished. You could be morbidly obese and still be malnourished. It all depends on the quality of food that you are eating. You may not need to lose any more weight even though you feel like you do. Go see your doctor immediately!!!!

It sounds like you've been losing weight in a really unhealthy way and your body is malnourished. Remember, even though you're reducing calories you need to maintain a balanced diet and drink plenty of water. Secondly, you need to slow down on the weight loss, you should really only be losing a few pounds a month, maybe 5 to 10. Losing weight too quickly puts strain on your heart so be careful! but you should definitely see a doctor, it sounds like your health is suffering. You maybe even have a thyroid issue...

because you have been crash dieting - all you have lost is water weight and muscle and slowed down your metabolism.
body needs 50cal/hour just for functioning (like when you are in coma) so thats 1200cal/day and this is for a person under 150lbs
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

your calories intake is too low. if your want to lose 15 more lbs then your weight would become126 lbs. for your age and with 126 lbs you need to take around 1900 calories just to maintain that weight. but take a look what you are doing now. 1900 calories is without any exercise only light daily routine. that is why all the dizziness and lightheaded. put more calories, your body are out of energy and it eats up all the good part from where it should not take.

what foods make up that 1000-1200 calories a day? Are you eating a balanced diet?
How much are you exercising everyday?
I would recommend you visit your doctor . Your symptoms may be caused by something other than your weight loss.

Anemia will do that to you. Chances are you're not getting enough iron in your diet. Go to the doctor and have yourself a physical with blood work done. They will also check your thyroid. I'm 5'7 and quit drinking a year ago. I lost 10 pounds (and my figure) so I kind of envy you curvy girls.
