You can read it all you want to and take it out of context all you want to, but if you're not a follower of Christ then you will not begin to comprehend what the Scriptures are actually saying.

My, my, my...for people who are all about being open minded and tolerant you all get pretty offensive when a Christian actually stands up for what they believe in and won't be used as a doormat.

thats why the Bible says that the Scriptures are foolish words to the unbeliever, apart from God the more foolish a person's words, thoughts, and actions become.
either people love to mock the Bible, they are somewhat interested, or they are truly searching for answers.
I know a lot of non-believers that ask me questions about the Bible and God with GOOD intentions, they are curious about it.

Two nights ago I was having a read of the bible, and it was quite clear to me what the scriptures were saying. They were saying that if that god of your"s existed he would be a monster.
Have you read it properly, and do you understand it? Or maybe YOU have been taking it out of context.

I'm fairly certain that anyone who is halfway literate can figure out what the bible is about. It's not like they wrote it in an incomprehensible alien language that can only be read with a particular pair of 3D glasses or anything...

You cannot begin to fathom how foolish you sound to non-christians. You are basically saying that the bible has no inherent meaning, and that only those who magically get the drift can possibly begin to understand its otherwise meaninglessness. Do you really believe that the bible is completely meaningless except to those touched, so to speak, in the head.

Hmm, funny how all the top Christian scholars have different interpretations
I understand it fine, is written by men in a time where women were inferior, violence and abuse looked down upon, and many of the things we would cringe at today were common place..

This is a queston of human nature...
Why do Christians who haven't studied the Bible in it's entirety answer questions as if they have?
The answer??

As a Christian, I studied the bible, I've even been considered a bible scholar (a title I do not like). It is because of these studies and my understanding of the bible, that I am not a Christian anymore.

So how come Christians can't agree on what it all means? How many denominations of you are there again?

Your persecution complex is so FUNNY! In what possible way can you describe yourself or other Christians to have been used as "doormats" by atheists? Who is offensive? Are you trying to tell us that telling someone else they cannot possibly understand something that you do is NOT arrogant?

Everyone understands the Bible differently, so who's to say which "understanding" is correct?
Who *really* knows what the scriptures are actually saying? (Anyone who thinks they do is extremely arrogant.)
